Hi LART,

I am really gratefully you guys are taking the time to do an extensive RED test. Have you thought of doing a preliminary test in Sept. with a more extensive test later in October, or even November?

In Sept. people will get some of the cameras and posts their impressions. Yet these impressions will be hard to evaluate. If you guys conducted a basic test of the image quality in Sept., followed by a more extensive test when more features are enabled, it would help clear any confusion during the first month.

Another question, how is the ActionCam Red addition?

Best wishes,

Neil

The LART Team is stoked to be doing the tests in October. In my post that set the testing forward to October I explained the reasons why it was done. Me and Ken Corben are greenlit on a large project that is taking our priority time in September and onward, though we'll be able to make the time to produce LART in October. As has been posted by RED, they are projected to have most of the upgrades available and/or installed on the early shipping RED cameras by October. That will enable much better testing of the cameras then. A 2-stage Sept/Oct LART isn't practical for these reasons.

As Ken Corben posted, thanks to Brian Goff we have taken delivery of one of the very first ActionCam RED stabilization units. The materials and build of the ActionCam seem excellent throughout - something we expected from a unit fabricated in Switzerland. We haven't tested out the ActionCam yet though. I will receive RED #8 this Friday, and shortly thereafter we'll fly #8 on the ActionCam. We'll post our impressions of the ActionCam afterwards. If it checks out well, Ken and I will also be testing it in our greenlit production, and naturally it will be tested further at LART in October.

Have you had a chance to put the ActionCam RED through the paces yet? I'm interested to hear how you like it...
