Hi Guys,

I've just got my Red Camera, and I've got a problem I can't seem to work out. Any footage I shoot with my Red Camera can be seen in Red Alert, but is just a black screen in FCP. In other words....you can't see anything!!

If I import Red files from a shoot we did a few months ago with another different Red Camera (I don't know it's build number), FCP reads the files with no worries at all. Easy as.

Can anyone help me please, as we are going into a shoot tomorrow, and the director needs to know if he start editing with no issues, and although the Data is there....FCP just seems to have an issue.

I can play back the files on the camera, and in Red Alert, but everything else just plays them back as black on the screen.

Is there a setting in the camera I've not correctly set up??
HELP!!!

Sounds like a Build 21/FCP6 problem. You need to transcode those files. Have a browse through the Workflow forum.

Alternately, you may just need to upgrade your Quicktime plugin...

Thanks Cali,

We are running Build 20.
We did however find the problem after staying up all night, and only getting 2 hours sleep before the shoot.
It appears when importing the files into FCP, there is a small drop down menu where you have to tell FCP how to interpret the footage.
We had to interpret the footage as Daylight.
Once we did this, everything was sweet!!
We search manuals, books, and the web, and could not find a solution even remotely close to this, so I've got no idea!!
Maybe we were looking in the wrong places.
Seems weird it's not an automatic thing....or at least a pop up to give you the choice when importing.
