I finally had time to sit down and do some real work in REDCINE-X and I'm very pleased out Lightroom-like it is. There are some additional Lightroom'y features I'd love to see some day.

Some history, my wife started a wedding photography business on the side, mostly for fun since she loves photography and weddings. So I've been helping her in Adobe Lightroom, a lot! And I've really grown to love the UI and how easy it is to get an image to look fantastic in a very short time.

You can tell the RED folks are patterning REDCINE-X after Lightroom. I just wish they'd go even further with their flattering imitation.

First I'd love to have a library similar to Lightroom, with star ratings and "picks", color coding etc. The "Bins" are nice, but a full library would be better.

Next and most urgent, would be the hue specific HSL options. I love being able to just click on a color in the image and adjust it's HSL values instantly.

Here is a video of me enhancing a photo, note how quickly I can "grade" the RAW image. I'd love to have this much control in REDCINE-X someday.

Great feedback Jeremy. As I have discovered how useful RED One can be for stills at times, I've started to look more carefully at the image processing apps like Lightroom and Aperture. Having more image control and a deeper library feature in Redcine-X might mean I won't have to go too far in my search. By the way, are you a fan of Aperture?

There are different programs out there that use sliders for color grading. I personally wish that REDCine-X would use traditional film controls and also provide compatibility with color control surfaces.

I doubt they're modeling it after Lightroom as other programs like Apple Color, 3CP - Gamma & Density and of course Scratch have been using similar controls for about 3 years now.

Also what you are doing is very fine tuned color correction which is best done on the edited sequence when shots are in context to each other - these types of control (including masks, etc.) are available in application like Color etc. Quick dailies processing for editorial and color grading for theatrical or broadcast tend to be different tasks - I would like to see more project based organization tools, indication of transcode history, etc. to better manage the front end of the post process - and have the ability to import pull lists at the end of the project to manage delivery and mastering in the post process.
