Can we get a sneak peak a the packaging, or will this ruin the surprise for the early rez holders?

I have a feeling the packaging is going to be pretty cool.

I hope they use a good, strong, average-looking shipping box, having spent all the rest of the time working on the camera :-)

Packages should be really boring. There are a lot of orders from countries where you should not advertise anything on the outside.

(Although the last time my suitcase arrived open at the baggage claim was in LAX (from SF))

I am sure somebody will post pictures when the first ones arrive.

I heard it was going to be half pink and yellow with your camera number written in magic marker. It comes with 2 left handed pens that say RED but they are misspelled RAD which isn't to bad. It is also wrapped in Hello Kitty Packing paper with some Mentos sprinkled in the box to keep it fresh. It comes with a open can of vaseline that you are supposed to give any new F900 cam owners. At least that is what I heard. :) LOL

HA ha HA.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I do not own an F900. I'd hate to be touching my toes on Saturday.

You are all right. It was dumb for me to start this thread. I just thought RED would be impressing us with an outstanding package design!

I'd love to see some pics of the cameras right before being shipped out. That would make us drool even more. The excitement is rising guys, get hyped if you aren't already!

I think the nice packaging could happen inside the plain cardboard shipping box. The box could double as a cool display piece for rental houses or other facilities. Spot varnishing + Blind Embossing!

I have a feeling there may be an extra surprise in the packaging.

Perhaps they'll include a Titanium "E" with the Camera, and then ship out Titanium "D"s when people screen their first RED motion pictures. :) (j/k)

Apple sets the bar for packaging and Ted comes from that school, no? Personally, plain brown cardboard is my preference for shipping.

The camera box is brown cardboard with a pretty sticker. Tell me again why we would spend too much money on a presentation box? We put all of our money into delivering a 4K camera for $17,500. There isn't much room for fluff. We gave a $2500 credit for accessories to reservation holders (up to a certain number) to help out. I prefer that you guys spend your money on gear and not paper.

This makes practical perfect sense. The camera design is cool enough.

Sorry I even started this thread, it's just the kind of silly speculation that I try not to engage in.

Just for that, the folks at Apple have revoked their relationship with RED and stripped Final Cut of the ability to edit REDCODE, effective immediately. You hurt Steve's feelings!

lol, I guess I meant jar. Somebody tell the RED folks that there is always room for Fluffers.

i'm for the plain box as well. i just love that idea with all my gear....keep it in simple no nonsense packing....travel with modified igloo coolers that lock and are every bit as good as any pelican case i have--for shipping that is. And nobody ever knows there's 20-40k worh of gear in that crappy looking box with tavel stickers and dirt on it.

I'm only buying the camera to get the box, are you sure you won't reconsider?

Kenn Christenson

Remember to keep the box in a temperature/humidity controlled environment. You'll want it 20 yrs. from now, so you can sell your Red to collectors - M.I.B. :greedy: Of course, if you plan to use your Red the way I do, you may have to scratch the "M."
