Hi Guys,
this is a warning going out to RED Owners about a production company/ producer from Melbourne, who is also operating interstate, mostly on music video productions and corporates.
Unfortunately this person is a very bad egg who doesn't pay bills and returns gear knowingly in damaged conditions and doesn't take responsibility. He even used film students to book and pick up gear to get a discounted hire rate.
Because he is operating interstate...in my case a production in Qld. it is virtually impossible to get to him from a legal point of view. I already went to the small claims tribunal in Brisbane over the outstanding hire and repair costs, but since the laws are different in Victoria they said the legal costs and efforts would exceed by far the outstanding debts and there isn't much they can do to enforce the contract. I learned from my mistakes but wanted to notify other RED owners in the country to be alert.
Im sure the forum rules forbid to mention names but im happy to pass on information via email.
