Whether you're shooting a parking lot or house, you can make it very pretty. So please, whatever you shoot, compose well, expose well, focus well, and use a lot of different focal lengths, or it's just another resolution test. What I really want to see is low-light stuff. Ted said they shot something in a street, with nothing but the streetlights, and it passed. I'd like to see some of that from the new Red owners.

But hey, anything will be interesting, if you have the time.

I think reduser.net has over 3500 registered members and I assume plenty more occasional passers-by. You have to assume just about all of those people will be looking at any early images posted, so it seems worthwhile to make shots at least somewhat nice.

(note- as I recall Red #1-5 are owned by Jim himself, so it's really only 20 new owners in this set)

Exactly. Didn't you see the big announcement on Red.com back in June: "Now shipping - Red Cameras #1-5."

Remember that a few of the early adopters have multiple cameras and a few are on the RED team itself. I'd guess ~15 new owners of the 25 cameras [but that's a guess].

First??

I'd give that to Jackson.

If this is a "contest" ... give me a break .. I am not interested.

If you want to see something interesting and dynamic .... I will most certainly throw the Offhollywood hat in the ring ... to contribute.

if this is a "contest" .. I'll sit it out ... not my style ...

I've heard Gibby say many a time in meetings. "All Killer no Filler." So first to the gate is never as important as best foot forward. If it's lens charts or parking lots you seek on Friday or Saturday then don't hold your breath for Gibby to be first.

If it is, "I'll be a son of a ...." then stay tuned.

PM me if you want me to host your red footage, I'm happy to share the bandwidth that we're not using.

talk about pressure! I want pretty pics no charts and some from the gut feedback, not a contest.

I would really like to see some low light and high contrast shots.

Jim's got 1-5 (which only leaves 20 cameras out tomorrow), and IIRC, many of the first reservation holders are rental houses/companies which more than likely have multiple cameras on order. I'd guess the number is even less than 15.

I fear their's gonna be a tone of that (bandwidth) needed, be prepared !!! And anybody have some spare, get ready. I think this is a perfect situation for bittorrent files, since we're all going to be downloading, LET'S SHARE OUR BANDWIDTH !!!

If we don't use bittorent, you know bandwidth will be saturated and many won't be able to downlaod. It happened with the new Crossing the line clip, thanks to those who put it up for download by the way. So let's do better this time, get your bittorrent clients ready.

Cheers,
Damien

Yeah, BitTorrent would be the best, I haven't been able to successfully download the CTL 2k version after 4 attempts. There are a few thousand members on this forum, and a lot of interest in this footage, so it would be good to spread the load.

PM me if you need space.

And of course this ain't a contest. I just want to see footage as soon as humanly possible. Down in the dirt and/or as pretty as you can make it, as long as it doesn't slow you down on posting it. :) I want to see what it can do in natural/no lighting setups.

I'm all for parking lot or backyard footage. People will see any posted footage for what it is. Focus and exposure are probably important, but if the composition is boring, I don't think anybody will care that much.

As for who's first? I'm betting Jarred. As noted in another thread, I don't think they want the first, released, production camera footage to be of their parking lot.

Agreed on all points. Low-light/nighttime has got me the most interested. We've seen how impressive the natural lighting in Jackson's short was, now is the time to wow us with a dim flicker of a bulb somewhere.

Also, some kind of official BitTorrent campaign for all this inevitable footage would be most welcomed. The broadband down here in Australia pales in comparison to the rest of the world...
