Hi all,

First let me start off with properly introducing myself to the forum for those who are interested. I've been following this whole community for about 8 months on a daily basis, but have never posted anything until now. I come from a DVX100 background which I've happily used for about three years. About two years ago, I started my own production company with a friend of mine straight out of school, and things have been great for us so far. We started off with corporate videos, but now we've also created our first tv commercials and have our first tv program for national tv. We mostly shoot on DVX, but on occasions we rent cameras like a Panasonic HDX900. I have only been close to a film camera, but never actually touched one.

Our main target for the future is to get into high-end commercials, and although we realise we are far from that point now - mostly due to lack of knowledge and experience - we have decided to at least invest in our own high quality camera to get a step closer. After putting aside alot of doubt, we've decided a few months ago to take the plunge: we have ordered ourselves a RED ONE! We plan on going for the Nikons with that.

We are literally putting all of our finances into that camera and taking a bit of a risk on this, but we somehow feel that this will be the best investment we can possibly make and see it as a way of being ahead of our competitors and the best strategic step to help us get better jobs. So ladies and gentlemen, this spring we will be ready to rock..! Just like everybody else here, we can't wait!

Now, the thing I actually wanted to post for:
We plan on going to IBC to actually see the screening in 4K and to meet the RED team. However I am not sure whether the normal entrance ticket of about 50 Euros covers the screening as well. Does anyone know? Or do we need to buy the 550 Euro ticket in order to see that?

Thanks for the fantastic forum!

Best regards,

goal (couldn't think of a cool nickname that quickly)

It's covered. I go there too just for that.

goal, congratulations on your successes and your plunge into the world of RED. I'm in a similar boat. Just ordered mine last Saturday after months and months of consideration. In the end, I just couldn't see putting 5 figures towards any other camera, not when spending a little more could get me a RED.

I'm going for the Birger mount and Nikon lenses also, which will allow me to share lenses with my new Nikon D40. Life is good.:)

I went last year with a 50 euro ticket (well, actually, a free ticket, because I ordered before 20th of August) and I went to the first test screening of the first images of the sensor.

Last year it was the only reason why I went to IBC.
RED and FCS 2 are the biggest reasons for me going to IBC this year.

There are ways to not pay the 50 euros!
many dealers have codes to obtain free access... If anybody needs one, let me know and I'll try to find one. In other hand, for other years, if you register prior to august 20, it's free.

Yes all the screenings are free (Says so here (http://www.ibc.org/cgi-bin/displaypage.cgi?pageref=3278))

Good going! 2 years in the biz and you have a national TV show?
What is it? Where are you from? If you have done that in 2 years
then I do not see that you will have a problem paying for the RED.
Over my 25 year in the business I could have bought 10 REDS.
So here we are - the whole spectrum of production - ready to
start (over) with RED.

Cool, we'll see if can obtain free access then.

It's a behind the scenes show of a feature film, that will appear on both the DVD and that also gets broadcast on tv. Really cool job and also the only time I got close to a 35mm camera :) Just being on the set and seeing how things are done when all of the bells and whistles are there was amazing for us. And very helpful as I now have an actual visual in my mind when I read books about lighting etc. We've never been to filmschool, so that was sort of a missing thing in our background. Most things we probably learn by trying/doing/failing or by hiring people that actually know what they are doing. And that is lots of fun :)
