High I have read alot of threads about people using ATI Radeon HD 4870
with first generation Mac Pro. I have a early 2007 8core and thinking on get an ATI Radeon HD 4870 with the 24" led. Anybody here that have used this over a longer period with or without problems?/Joel

Yes, it will. It is not officially supported, but it will work.

Do you use a Radeon 4870?
I know you can flash a pc version of the Radeon 4870 and have 1gig onboard memory but I rather go safer and get an mac version that i dont have to flash.

No Reduser running Radeon 4870 on first generation macpro? Would be most intrested in mac editon of the card and not the flashed pc version.

It works perfectly fine. Go to Apple store, buy, take out old ATI 1900, stick in 4870, boot up and its good.

But I recommend you have the latest 10.5.x pre installed since it has the driver or Snow leopard.
