I always thought that Casio would be the biggest competitor among multiple fields for Jim because of the fact they make both watches and cameras!

Well, Casio announced their digital camera that uses Sony's 6MP 60fps CMOS:

I wouldn't say it would hold up against the RED ONE, but I think it'll look pretty good seeing the images assembled into a 2K movie. It's even overcranked.

And also, 300fps in VGA. But, most still cameras move modes take video with out a shutter and just turn the sensor on and off, from what I can tell (Phil said shutter speed allowing:wink:). But you could slow the video down to 48fps and discard every other frame to get 24fps at 1/48th. That would mean it's be like 150fps.

Care to share what you'd like to do with it? :matrix:

AFAIK, no info on the buffer length yet. The slo-mo examples are pretty short............ perhaps < 5 seconds of source material.

I'm very interested in what the Casio engineers can eek out of this camera. ??? The example clips look pretty decent. :)

I guess Sony will have something soon based on this chip.

capture in 60p is less than one second, iirc.
