Hey Jarred and Co,
Great forum for us to meet and discuss this amazing happening. Will you be further splintering the service so as to have a dedicated forum for Lenses, REDCODE, Workflow,, Accesories, Mysterium Sensor and other related issues?
What Forums topics would others like to see here??
I just throw this in as I thought that before we were getting the same old lens questions pop up time and time again which could get some people a tad wound up. A dedicated forum with potentially a nicely configured Sticky to outline the possibility of lens options for RED at 4k down to 720p for example.
Cheers,
Mark.

I agree.
We can clearly see from the first few days that this place is popular.
Even a basic split to "General" "Technical" "hardware" "images" "workflow" ... like another forum we know ... might be a good idea for starters.
- Mikko ... forum subject to change.

Keeping number of forums down, and I'd prefer just one, free-for-all, makes it much easier for us RED people to see new posts, follow threads and answer questions.

Yeah, I'd agree that unless traffic gets really out of hand, fewer forums are better. Much less clicking around required to follow everything.
There is some value in being able to easily pull up just posts about certain topics, though... hmm, maybe someone needs to take the social tagging phenomenon that's so popular these days and build some forum software around it. (Sorry, I'll take my "web developer" hat back off now.)

One forum for non-RED related topics might be the natural start of an expansion though...

Agree with Graeme. Sometimes, less is more.
More clean, more simple.
Less threads, more selected. Maybe is the right formula.
Just my two cent.

OK Now it's fixed! I was already tired to see my user account literally highjacked... Even if for good reasons. Well, when it so happens... http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/ernaehrung/food-smiley-004.gif For once, to each his/her/their own...

yes the forum catagories will stay as small as possible. we will have a REDCINE catagory when its time and most likely an acc. one but the lower the better.

Fair comments one and all.
I can understand the points raised. My feelings are that lens issues are going to be repetitive and constant. Just thought it would have been an idea to segregate that into its own unique thread. You guys have made a great resource here so its clear you know what you're doing so hey, don't ask, don't get.
Have a good one.
Mark.

absolutely Mark.. when the Lens has enough posts to justify its own section, it will get one for sure.

Hey Graeme,
I was just wondering I noticed your avatar said you were from Ottawa (which is where I'm from but I just moved to Toronto for school and to get into the film industry) and I was curious as to how you work out of Ottawa. I believe RED is located somewhere in the States (correct me if I'm wrong) so if you are in Ottawa, well what sort of a role do you have? Just curious! :p

He develops software, REDCODE for example. It's quite normal nowadays to collaborate with people around the world. I do this everyday.

Suggestion: how about a red skeptics forum, where all the special needs children can play.

3 points
1 - I like less forums, I hate going a million places.
2 - Lenses should get their own sub-topic since they're very general, and not red-specific.
3 - How about a stickied "The Facts" thread. That way anybody spreading fud can just receive a single link. Include an attached framegrab.

? Sorry Ruari, I didn't really understand your response in relation to my telecommuting quote.
I'm not a skeptic by all means (with regards to RED that is). Are you asking for my approval of a skeptics forum?

apologies, I clicked the quote button to add a response, because it was big and inviting. It wasn't really in response to your post. Since fixed.
Happy new year,
