I hope this opening day/launch today isn't going to be a repeat of NAB'07 where thousands of online Red supporters seemed to be forgotten and waited all day in frustration for very little.

I'm still guessing that the reservation holders haven't even left RED HQ yet. I'd put money on something appearing by tonight.

I agree.
I'm just as anxious as everyone else, but it'd be nice to consolidate these posts into one or two threads? I have a feeling things are going to get out of hand very soon... haha. :ninja:

I'm expecting that the "post footage here!" threads will vanish very quickly when footage is posted. I'd lock them, but people tend to get offended by that. All but one or two threads will fall off the radar when footage and stills are posted.

Yeah right on there. People post new threads as new thoughts come to mind.
Numbers will rise during today/tonight (did it get to 10,000 at NAB opening?)with people hoping to see something......pics of room, opening of box #1, handing over Reds blah blah. Two things will happen. Either they keep posting these thread hoping and gradually feel more frustrated/low, or they'll get something, pics etc that they go WOW.....THANK YOU RED

I’m sure there are a few people picking up their cameras and some getting it shipped. Most of those picking them up will probably be at RED for quite some time today learning all the ins and outs of the camera. Those that had it shipped won’t receive it until tomorrow or Tuesday depending on shipping during Labor Day weekend.

I'm sure they are just picking the batteries out of the chargers right now. There is no way they shipped with fully charged bateries and completely put together.
Red One (#1) would probably be the only one up and running today.

I can smell a NAB07 repeat coming on.
You know what.....I don't know they let it happen?
It's such a non-brainer marketing/don't disappoint the masses/easy thing to do...that brings such excitement, promotes greater interest to all blah blah, that I can't see why they don't provide any near-time coverage of these events.
I'd be like streaming/podcasting/pasteing photos like it was Jesus reappearing!

like a blog maybe? Seems like this historic event should be documented in a similar hi-tech innovative manner as the camera system itself represents. Seems like things have gone opaque today. I've been lurking, waiting till it actually ships before posting, but yes it does seem a bit odd there is not more info flowing from red or from the new users. Hopefully the first 25 don't come with a non-disclosure agreement as well. ;)
looking forward to seeing some pictures and reports. I'm sure everyone is too excited and busy to post things to the board.

I actually like this idea. I have been on so many false threads to this point, it's nuts!

Yeah I know Brook, thanks a lot.....patience ain't one of my virtues.
It's just that this internet community/forum is near totally dependant on post/links/pictures....it's its' like blood and the 100 or so people at the launch are set, but the 1000 or so on the forum that are just as interested, I feel should be included in some way. Like throw us a bone we're all here waiting like puppies for a treat. It just make better business etc sense to share the excitement.

i thought there would be a whole slew of gorgeous footage posted by now by the RED team to head off any "parking lot" shots...

Everything's been pruned (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4118). I'll continue this through the day - but sporadically from my phone [as I'm heading away from my computer right now]. It's easier to lock threads from my phone than it is to merge, so I'll probably just lock all "offending" threads from here on out. Nobody's doing anything wrong, I'm just trying to keep it all cleaned up based on the [dozens of] requests I've received. Please be good in my absence... :)
