I'd be done with High School (I'm home-schooled and spend too much time learning on REDuser.net)
I'd have an EX3, while longing for who knows what
I wouldn't have made all of the contacts/friends here on the forums
I wouldn't be able to talk with billionaires on a regular basis
I wouldn't have much hope in owning the kind of gear the big playa's use in the big budget movies
I wouldn't have had the joy of having an inside look at the challenges/rewards an imaging company gets as they build a camera from the ground up
What about you?
Thanks RED for your long hours, patience with the naysayers, and the drive to prove them wrong.
One other thing, thanks to the mods and the RED team's interaction, this forum has got to be the best on the web.

If it wasn't for RED...
I would be excited about the Apple event next week.
I would shoot HD and have the illusion of that being high resolution
My Contax Zeiss lenses would be gathering dust

Honestly, I had lost all passion for my job until RED One. I am definitely not a fanboy but I just love what this camera has done for my work life.

I also wonder how many chemicals RED has spared the world from. Don't know of any commercials or music videos shooting on 16mm anymore.
Ramesh,
Am curious to see how you feel once you work with the new sensors :)

If it wasn't for RED:
I wouldn't have attended NAB the last two years to check out all the latest gizmos and gadgets and see RED 4K in 4K.
I wouldn't have gotten to work with David, Eric, Michael, Jeff, Meryem and other extremely fun, smart and talented people.
I'd be saving my pennies for a bottle of pre-ban absinthe instead of a fixed-zoom Scarlet.

Stephen,
the best would be that you continue to shoot on S35mm film for a low budget and exclusive iPhone adds... :sarcasm:
Just kidding... :001_tongue:

Apart from not having this forum to come to I'm not sure...
Maybe I would know less about how cool anamorphic lenses are and David Mullen would just be another cinematographer.

I would have replaced my DV camcorder with a Canon/Sony/Panny prosumer HD camcorder a year ago.
After seeing Red footage, playing with clips and Redcine to learn some of the workflow, and a brief hands on demo with an R1 I was hooked.
As an old 16mm film shooter, nothing under 10k other than a Scarlet seems very interesting anymore.
I would not have met via the forums a lot of interesting people, from students to A list artists at the top of their profession.
I would not have learned a ton of new cinematography/lighting/editing techniques to try from some of the best in the business. I must say it is very humbling to witness the depth of skill, knowledge, technique, and attention to detail many of you bring to your art and craft.
Thanks for being RED!

If it wasn't for RED, we'd be living in low-rez "HD" alias hell. :-)

If it wasn't for RED, I'd still be shooting every commercial on film and could find a really cheap set of MKII's on Ebay...

If it wasn't for RED I would probably be looking at 4:2:2 footage and wishing someone had shot the greenscreens on Film or the Viper.
If it wasn't for RED I would be carefully budgeting how much film I could afford to get processed and scanned this year.

-Steve
-Jared
-Shane
-Peter
-Kyle
Whom I all talk with on a regular basis, about WHAT ELSE?

yup. Or even miniDV. Actually, at the time I heard about Red I was looking at getting an Andromeda modified DVX for my first camera.
I would have blown the rest of my money completing my home theater system.

I wouldn't be going to NAB '10
I wouldn't have gotten to find out how kEwl Ted Schilowitz or Graeme Nattress was
I wouldn't be planning on making videos at NAB for the great community on here...
