I´m working in a project and i´d like to do this process. FCP log a transfer, Proress, edit, Redcine X, and finish in Apple Color DPX.
How can export my edit to Redcine X, and from REDcine to Color? It´s possible? Can I do this workflow through Clipfinder?

You can do it with redcine using Crimson. Other wise wait for redcine -x to support XML and a solution will probably arrive soon after.

Why would you use DPX when you can use the tools in Color to access the full spectrum of the R3D data?
At present time I do not see the usefulness of this workflow unless you are trying to correct under exposed shots with the new color science.
REDCINE-X is at best a onelight tool and in the hands of an experienced colorist the exact same looks could be achieved using CameraRGB and REC 709 gamma with the current color science.
It would be nice to FLUT in COLOR, but I am sure that is coming.
Currently REDCINE X does not support XML import.
You could create a "cut list" with Clipfinder but you would have to export the full content of each shot used in the edit to DPX because R3D's can not be edited.
I suppose you could attempt a manual trim in REDCINE-X if you have the stamina, but I can't see the advantage of this effort.
Loads of work for basically the same result.

I´d use the R3D files, CC and export as DPX.
Using Redcine X for under exposed shots, and go to color to finish.
FLUT in color is coming, and New color science is coming as well?
When can we expect it?

Ah. OK.. I understand better now.
NOt sure when FLUT˙˙˙ will arrive in Color, but that would be up to RED and APPLE to release a NEW QT codec and a NEW FCS installer file.
I think they have a good working relationship, but QT-X is brand new as well so there could be a lot of work there for any DEV team.
If the feature is not shot, then it might be there by the time you post.

We have been informed (Don't remember the thread offhand) that a new Color plugin is due like this week. So that may affect your decision.
It will *NOT* have FLUT.
Are you planning on mixing the RedCine-X outputted DPXs and the R3D in your Color grade? Because that's just asking for trouble.
Regardless, as has been mentioned, there's currently no way to conform in RedCine-X, short of doing it manually, or rendering out the whole clip for the sake of whichever part you need. There are other options if you absolutely need the new color science. Clipfinder's free, but has some limitations. Crimson + RedCine (Not -x) is a decent alternative, if you can track down a copy of the last RedCine. Monkey Extract also uses the new Color Science, I believe, and offers the most flexibility as far as rendering. But it's also the most expensive.

Here's the "Soon, won't have FLUT" post: http://reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=541421&postcount=32
Still trying to find the "Next Week" info. Was somewhere in Recon, amidst a discussion of the new SDK. I'll keep looking.

I´m trying this workflow but i´ve a problem. FCP, log&transfer to ProRes, Export XML, open XML in clipfinder and run conform, go back to FCP and import run conformed XML. Then FCP alerts:
WARNING: Non-Critical errors were found while processing an XML document. Would you like to see a log of those erros now?
LOG: <file>: Unable to attach specified media file to new clip. (for every file)
And the clips in FCP appear OFFLINE.
What´s wrong in my workflow? Am I missing anything?
Thank´s

Make sure when you create the XML in clipfinder that you tell it where to find all of your R3D media files.
Also. Be sure give the sequence a NEW name and the XML a new name and open it in a NEW PROJECT.
How many layers in the sequence?
How many titles? (don't include those)
How many events?
How long is teh sequnce?
All of this matters.

I tell where to find the R3D media.
Sequence with new name, XML with new name, and I open it ina new proyect.
Just one layer (one track, V1)
No titles.
For this test I just used 2 R3D files with 2 subclips each in the timeline, that is 4 clips in the timeline.
In clipfinder:
import subclips from FCP XML
Tools- Run conform on FCP XML File
XML input file, I Point to the XML file created in FCP
XML output file, the name of my nex XML (differente to I created in FCP)
Replace with clips.....OFF
Match only 16 first characters.....ON
Adjust sequence width..........OFF
CLIPs Directory Path: I point to the directory where my R3d Files are.
What´s Wrong with this?
Thank´s
