Ok, I'm wondering what some of you techy's are doing for your DVR needs. I currently have 2 Time Warner boxes that I rent for 34 dollars a month roughly.

I'm considering MOXI (http://www.moxi.com/us/moxi_two_room_bundle.html) for a one time price of 800 dollars plus the two cable card fee from Time Warner that would run me 7.80 a month

What are you guys using? Is there a simple way of bypassing all the monthly fees

We used to be able to program a VCR to record shows we wanted for free. Is there a digital equivalent?

Can something like a mini mac with an Apple TV do the trick?

Any suggestions are welcome.

I have two TiVo Series 3s. One receives ATSC OTA and the other uses cable card with Comcast. Both also have lifetime paid, so no monthly fee. At the time it was $199 per box for lifetime subscription + price of box. I don't remember if they were $799 or $999 each as it has been a while. The TiVo HDs are cheaper and offer life time on occasion.
