Hi

I'm a student of cinematography from Barcelona. I'm trying to shot an stereoscopic short film this summer with a beamsplit rig and two red one cameras and I am studying how can I get it. My main question is how can I syncronize two red one cameras? I figure that two cameras have to record the frame and move the shooter simultaneously. Is there a cable that make this with the filmware of the cameras, I have to buy an accessory or I need to modify the cameras in some way?

Thank you

Moisès

Use a standard USB cable two master/slave the two REDs together. You must let the Master camera boot FIRST (until RED logo appears on LCD/monitor) then boot SLAVE camera. They will start and stop together - but typically there is a 2-3 frame difference on the start and stop.

You need to genlock the cameras as well - enable genlock on both cameras and feed them both the same tri-level sync signal.

You should also JAM sync timecode to both cameras.

I hope this helps.
