Hey guys,
OK so some of us may be a bit wacky at times, I put it down to too much salt water in my case, so I have come up with the Titanium ext"R"eme shootout. Basically looking to pass the time here as we all wait for our little care packages to be delivered sometime in the near future. SO lets stop all the speculating for a day or so, have some fun by snapping your R's in some pretty extreme conditions so we can all have a giggle. I'll get the ball rolling with a small montage of some stills taken from todays diving activities.

Enjoy.......and post yours soon.
Cheers,
Mark.

Mark.. thats awesome. I like the one with the Shark. I think we need to have Brook do one of his during freefall :)

The parrot fish have chewed the coral nicely...lucky they didn't get your "R"!

Oh, right. And my pictures will look good after that! Well, suppose I can take a dive into lake Michigan and put my R's next to a dead mobster.

(Nice job, man!)

You didn't :) Damn! Not afraid to loose it underwater?

Props to you Mark, great photos!

Really...like I have any chance to compete with that...

Mine sits on top of my big screen tv...in the box ;)

Damn, Mark! Those are great. I second the request to see the desktop-sized versions of those. I'll settle for 1600x1200:cool:

Unfortunately, I have yet to receive my "R". Hopefully it's in the works. As soon as it gets here, I'll try to think of some extreme scenarios. Hmm, I'm picturing NYC Subway tracks...

Good for a laugh eh?
I'm about to go out diving for the day so I will see if I can improve on the shark shot seeing as we are going to a particularly 'sharky' area for the first dive.

Elcurado, do you want one image or a montage such as this at a higher rez? I'll work on putting an ext'R'eme wallpaper together, my photoshop skills pale in comparison to yours though.

Rob, why should I worry about losing my R? Its not as if I will be looking to 'cash it in' in the future....:D Just need a good rinse and a slight lube with veggie oil as post dive maintenance.

For all the others, get out there, beg, steal or borrow a form of transport other than a car, make your way to the top of the closest hill, strap your R to a respectable body part, launch yourself and take the snap. Its the weekend, get out there and have fun.......sheesh, anyone would think you've nothing better to do than to sit hunched over a computer waiting for snippets of info to come through about some miraculous new fangled camera .......

Cheers,
Mark.

OK, will do. About to go out for the day so will attempt to get some more shots with my new dive buddy. Maybe not as sunny today but no worries. How you want the images? Rez - dpi etc?

I'm calling B.S. on that one. I did a graphical shadow analysis and have determined that that may be a photoshopped picture.

But Curt, clearly this is proof that RED is based on captured "alien" technology!:D Next thing, you will tell us shadow people aren't real.;)

Well this is the best I could come up with today. The sharks were there in numbers but wouldn't co-operate with regards to giving me some nice composition shots but thats the problem when working with animals I guess. Don't worry, I've now got it in my mind to get a nice Shark shot with my R in the frame.

C'mon guys get snapping. Wanna see some R's in crazy situations. Nice shot from outer space. Was that shot on mR's ........

The best you can do, are that video grabs or pictures? Don't worry about.
See ya, Corrado.

Mark Thorpe

They are video grabs from a Sony Z1U - max rez 1920 x 1080 @ 72dpi. I save them as deinterlaced .tiff files so each one is 7.9MB. The posted grabs are low pass cropped .jpgs

Let me know if you wanna play around with some of these.

Best,
Mark.

Yeah, just export as "jpg max quality optimized" and you're done.

The R is located in my waist belt!! OK so you can't see it but the shot came out nice. Me and a friend messing around today. Pretty soon I will be housing something a bit more potent than the Z1 and this housing.

Cheers,
Mark.

Hi Gibby,
Picture taken with a D60. We have the second largest, to Truk lagoon, sunken Japanese war fleet here in Palau. This was a shallow dive on the only intact Jake Sea Plane here. Messed around with the whole image just for fun. One way to keep my mind off RED for the time being.

Best,
Mark.

Mark.. thats awesome. I like the one with the Shark. I think we need to have Brook do one of his during freefall :)

Heh, if somebody lends me their "R" I'll take a picture of it in freefall/under canopy. No reservation for me...

#8 stays here though...

Hey Guys,
These are friggin' ludicrous. Check out what Elcurado has done to a couple of the underwater stills I posted with my opening letter of this thread:

Kudos my friend.

Well if you're local, I may be heading to make a few jumps tomorrow. The beauty of the R is that it'd be super easy to fashion a safety chain wristband... :)
