Dear Red:

If there is something you want all reservation holders to know or to respond to, please send a mass email to us. Many of us are too busy to stay completely current with all the happenings on this forum.

Thank you for all of your efforts,

Verko

A News Letter should indeed be a great idea. I would subscribe to this immediately. I think I even remember - but I could be wrong - that in the beginning, at the red site, you could option to get emails with news, but I only got one, I think. Don't know for sure, and as I said, I could be wrong.

Yeah, actually even a brief daily to the Email addresses...

Doesn't have to be flashy... just let us know in summary what's going on.... especially since things are going to accelerate exponentially from now...

You just have to come on the forum here and you will know whats going on.

An RSS feed or a blog, would be nice. Full of Official information not the second hand thread of a thread kindof stuff that happens here.

Everyone working on the project is answering questions in those threads.

You can't get more Official than that? Can you?

I think first-hand information is owed to the reservation holders. They shouldn't have to wade through tons of threads to get pertinent information about their cameras.

My point exactly.

Dude, is that your "opinion" or having been here since Dec. 2006 gives you the entitlement to speak on behalf of the company...

Frankly, I don't think the original poster's request is that unreasonable...

You might think we have "departments" that take care of every detail. We don't. We are a garage operation. There are 21 employees (or something like that) trying to build a camera. We come here to talk about what we are doing. This is the best place to get "the scoop" on RED.

Once we get the drama of production and shipping behind us, we will try to get more "professional". But for now, this is the place for the inside scoop on RED.

Your point is a good one. We'll do our best going forward.

Sorry if I offended anybody, but all I was saying is that the reduser.net forum has been from the beginning the best place to get all the updates on whats been going on. I definitely don't speak for the company.

Reduser.net is a great place for information, and I love to come around here and read everything, but sometimes, when it gets busy, you don't have the time to go trough 10 new long threads because you want to know the new scoop. That's when a news letter comes in handy.
But:

Once we get the drama of production and shipping behind us, we will try to get more "professional". But for now, this is the place for the inside scoop on RED.

Jim

as it seems, it will be taken care of later, so that's nice.
Thanks, Jim!

Thanks, Jim. I am certainly well aware of the skunk-works status of Red, and frankly I think that's part of what makes Red so effective. I don't need a newsletter per se, but if Red needs reservation holders to act on something, an email would be nice, and shouldn't be too hard to make happen. I would think that Red is like my own company - only the top priority items get attended to; everything else can wait for "downtime". Like a battleship under fire, washing the blood off the decks can wait a bit.

I can only praise Red as I wait for #508, and maybe make a constructive comment or two. How can we complain that you and the Red team personally give us updates and respond to us?

Thanks again,

Verko

It's definitely not easy to come on here and read every new post every day. But for a quick update, all I do is click on Jim's name, then click "Find more posts by Jannard" Read everything new that Jim said, then do the same for Jarred. You won't know EVERYTHING, but if it's important, you know one of these two will have commented on it.

Jim, a suggestion for whoever looks after the forums here at Reduser: setup a "Dev Tracker", which shows only posts from Red staff, possibly as a modified search link or a separate forum where Red posts are automatically copied.

It's a common feature at forums of video game companies, as it lets the users go directly to the "important" posts from the actual game developers.

And then add an RSS feed of the dev tracker!
