Our friends Blair, Tonaci, Brook and Evin have made this weekend Awesome because they are choosing to share with us.

But, I think its important to remember they don't have to.

A few posts have been overly critical and out of context with the spirit of what there doing, which is having fun learning and sharing with us.

I hope everyone can consider other's feelings before posting anymore complaints. If everyone continues to be overly critical of these most basic, fun tests, there going to stop.

I have #81 and I can tell you right now, if I was trying to share with you guys and received the kind of negative remarks some have made here.... I'd stop in a heartbeat. DONE. And I'd bet most others would too.

The early adapters can come here to reduser to share, for the benefit of all of us.....

Or they can say forget it. It's not worth the trouble.

And we can choose to support them and learn along with them, or we can chase them away.

I don't want to offend anyone, but I am asking that we all treat these guys they way we would like to be treated.

This is a great weekend Because these guys have shared with us, otherwise everyone would be bummed out.

Let's keep it going in good spirit by supporting and celebrating this together.

BTW Blair, Tonaci, Brook and Evin... ROCK!

I agree, they are being very generous with their time and willingness to let everyone share in the excitement that the early images have provided.

Thanks guys, you are all way too cool for words!

Straight up, Sam! It's a holiday weekend and they're taking the time to keep us in the know. Oh, for those begging for the outside/daytime shots, they'll come. It's 108 degrees+ in So Cal! ;)

Thanks, Sam...

I'm just excited to see what the other guys can come up with. We were able to provide the "holy crap!" footage with no budget and less time. It looks like they but some serious time and money into their productions... can't wait to see what comes of it.

Well said Sam. Reduser is all about community IMO. If the knit pickers are going to break out the oscilloscopes then I would not share any "first footage" either if I were an early reservation holder.

Most of these guys do not have PJ budgets or resources and are also not processing the first images with professional graders. Hell, redcine isn't even released yet.

Keep it relative to the motive and source.

Very well put! I agree full heartedly. It makes me sad and upset to see overly critical comments of someone's generosity. That is not being very thankful and appreciative. Like was mentioned, they don't have to do what they are doing. They are doing you a favor. So, instead of griping and asking to PLEASE POST _______, try saying thank you. It goes a long way. So, for those of you who have posted, thank you. We'll continue to mirror as much as we can!

The only stuff missing here is video uploads of those lucky guys drooling over their new toys. That would be pretty entertaining I think.

Great post Sam!

People seem to forget there are 24 other Reds out there and Brook, Tonaci, and Evin are the only ones posting and uploading footage. Mad props to them because in a few weeks I'm sure they'll be too busy on other projects to post! (Well maybe not Brook I sure he'll keep adding to his posting record on reduser.net:tongue: )
Thanks! I'll have to buy you guys lunch when I'm in L.A in December!

Maybe if I juice up like B. Bonds I can catch Brook in Posting!

I haven't posted any comments about the footage so far, but I have been reading a lot of the apologies/excuses and "cut them some slack" comments.
I agree it's far too early to judge anything. With that said- I feel it's totally fair to judge and post critical/neg comments. Why not?
Shouldn't the Red be fair game to all opinons- same as a New Sony or panasonic?
While Red may be considered a "low" cost high end Hd camera by some- it's still quite $$ for those of us looking to make the next step beyond a HVX.
We should be able to see and judge the good the bad and even the ugly.

Hi Bokes,

Welcome to reduser.

Opinions are great, but should be given and taken in context.....

Those opinions really need to be educated on the cutting edge of this technology and have traveled the road they want to advise if they want to offer guidance.....

For us to criticize a journey we've never taken is ..... arrogant.

We can't compare what's happening today with Red, with any other camera company.... Because Red's choice for open development and releasing cameras with many features Not functioning just never happened before.

In addition, this is a 4K camera that shoots raw. And even though we have used raw still cameras, there's a LOT to learn about working with 4K moving images.

But to the point.....

Most of the issues people are complaining about don't have anything to do with the quality of Red's image.... It's about learning how to process the images and work with the limits of the current compression issues to be able to see this over the web.

Now your new, and I'm happy to help you understand, that's what reduser is about.

But there are some of us who should know better, and in all the excitement may have lost there perspective, that's why I posted this thread.

For those guys to race to figure all this out to share some images with us is sooooo cool.

When I say that Brook, Evin, Blair and Tonaci are among some of the most knowledgeable redusers we have, that's an understatement......

So, if they need time to figure this stuff out, all I can say is.... We're all lucky these guy's are doing it for us!

Now, does everybody want to learn along with them?

Or should we act like "we could do it better" and chase them away?

It's not a question of critiquing the camera....

It's about giving our friends who are brave enough to show us the learning process, the support they deserve.

Finally, Red is not for the faint of heart! You need a real sense of adventure to ride a rocket..... and you may crash it a few times before you get that smooth landing. For those that need to know the outcome before the movie starts, a disney picture should satisfy.

Criticizing footage and what is posted is one thing, but demanding and being ungrateful for what the pioneers of this camera are doing is another. That's my point. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
