Is Red still planning on weather proofing the camera a bit more from sand, dust, and dirt?

I'd still like to see rubber covers over sensitive connectors so that I do not have to use gaffers tape or a plastic camera jacket when I'm shooting on the beach.

I agree, I was thinking about this the other day.some sort of rubber plug would be nice. Id like to see some footage shot in adverse weather conditions to show me how well it can stand up. I have no doubt that it would do well if popper precautions are taken, but still we haven't seen any footage like that yet.

In the meantime try 2 inch wide electrical tape

It is
Heat proof
Cold proof
Waterproof
No conductive
Glue on EU approved tape leaves no residue even when exposed to high heat
LEDs can be seen through the white coloured tape.

I've used it to make cameras splashproof for use onboard open vessels in open sea.
