This is very true .. remember, not everyone would have picked them up in person..

maybe people are scared to post footage because armchair quarterbacks are being so insanely nitpicky like someone else said.

Although some have been tough on the footage, I think it's only normal to start disecting it. This is part of the fun, seeing these first images from the cameras. My guess is that as more footage surfaces, even more opinions will fly, but in the end, it's going to be about getting one in your hands and seeing what you can do with it. I can't wait to see more stuff pour in. It's going to be a rewarding experience after a long wait.

Like Sumfun said, several cameras are probably still haven't been delivered. And with the holiday weekend here, that may affect delivery too.
I know #13 was intended to be picked up on friday, but don't know if that actually happened -- Congrats, Billy!

Congrats !!

I don't really think that anybody is interested about the quality of the Red One owners skills. I sure hope that no Red owner has felt any pressure related to what has been posted. Analysis and comments have been to 99% about the performance of the RedOne together with questions about how they were captured, lighting conditions etc. I think everybody knows that the owners are playing around with their cameras and appreciate any footage posted.
The camera is behaving really good and the critism is on nit picking level because the boundaries and outer limits of this camera is what we all are trying to pinpoint. I'm for one is very happy with what I'm seeing. When things are in focus and not overexposed and when we get RAW unprocessed TIFFs, everything this camera produces looks great IMHO.

We know that there are actual DPs and people with a lot more shooting experience than us who will take the camera through all its paces. Our goal was to get some footage shot to experience the camera and have footage to work with and start exploring post and visual effects issues as well. And to share some of that with our fxguide readers and fxphd students.
That said we were thrilled with the images we saw and the chance to see the camera with various lenses in front of it as well. Hope to keep seeing the flow of imagery from this new community.

Has it not occured to some of you that owning a RED and participating in online forums have nothing to do with each other?
I know lots of people with reservations who don't even know this website exists and don't particularly care.

When I picked up my #8 camera kit last Friday I also picked up Billy's #13 camera kit for him. Billy is an alliance partner of GibCor (Gibby-Corben). His first son was born Friday, so Billy asked me to pick up his system for him.
A big high five to Billy for taking delivery of a new son and a new RED One camera all on the same day! His personal and professional life just changed in many ways...

Hey, Gibby... When's your stuff coming?
We're getting some amazing results...
I put up some info on that this morning on the "Where's Gibby and #8?" thread on this forum:
