There are many. Some are "big" and many are "small".. All are important.

Audio. Playback. 2K windowed at 100fps. We consider these "big". They are scheduled to be done by the end of September. Those that have cameras will do a firmware update. Pretty easy.

Everytime we add a feature, we seem to find something else that pops up and needs attention. So we send out the "bug patrol".

This is the process. If you are up for it, take delivery and join the ride. If you want to wait, no problem on our end. There is no penalty, except the time lost in discovery of your new tool. We are good either way.

The 1st 25 are all experiencing RED. The reports all seem to be overwhelmingly positive about the image quality. There are minor irritations that require attention. But no one has said, take it back and I'll wait until you are done.

We are open about everything, the good and the bad. We'll support our customers through the process. Just know that RED is not like anything you have every bought before. We are just beginning and we will never be done. Things will always improve. Jump in... or wait. The choice is yours.

Thanks for telling us Jim. You are the busiest guy I know and you still end up getting information out to people. That is service.

I like that last part about never being done. That has always been
my philosophy and I guess why I have survived for 27 years in the business.
Looking forward to a "great ride".

Heh. Sounds like Red is taking the Google tradition of perpetual beta, and applying it to hardware.

Really, this is just an admission of something that anyone who has ever worked on a complex project (whether it's hardware or software development, or even something like editing a feature) already knows; that things are never actually done. There just comes a point when you have to say you're done and put something out there, because otherwise you'll be tweaking forever.

But with modern tech products, that's not the end anymore; you can keep upgrading after you ship. I've always been frustrated that more companies didn't take advantage of this. It ultimately results in a better product, because getting your stuff out there before it's "done" means that user feedback enters the loop while changes are still possible. It's great to see that Red gets this.

This is the camera for African filmmakers especially for GHANA and NIGERIAfilmmakers. The picture quality and price is UNBEATABLE in my opinon. I Will buy one.

2K windowed at 100fps.

What about 2K scaled (not at 100fps of course) ? Is it still planed too ?

There's no way I'm gonna hold off for a completed version.

I've been waiting nearly two years for my baby!

And what is still not shipping?

I mean the optical adapters for Nikon F, Canon FD, EVF, etc...?
