your cable might be too long. had issues with that too...

I've also had some timing issues with certain monitors. The camera and the monitor have needed to be plugged into the same outlet in order for it to work. So camera on battery and monitor plugged in didn't work. I think it has something to do with the monitor using the 60hz power as the timing signal.

might be that my intel is outdated - but at some point there was a list of monitors that worked over hdmi (because most monitors didn't...).
the problem, if i recall correctly, was the "digital handshake" of hdmi devices.
can't find the link though - sorry.
one workaround would be to convert your hdmi to dvi. dvi should work with all monitors.

For our monitor we cable converted the HDMI signal to a dvi signal and any monitor with dvi in has worked. I think the HDMI signal has additional information in it that bungs up the signal. Plus a 30' DVI cable was like $15.
A partial answer is also available on this page near the end under the heading :
Will any HDMI monitor or TV work for monitoring output?

I literally went into a computer store pulled out the red and plugged it in to every monitor on display and bought the one that worked.

2 weeks ago we tried a 70' HDMI cable. didn't work. put a 35' on, worked fine. Definitely check your cable length, seems the signal out on the RED is going to be more limited. the HDMI spec actually only runs 40' from what I've researched. We were putting our singal into a standard Samsung LCD TV 24". Looked great considering the option was renting a monitor for the same price as buying this one.

I use 50' HDMI cables, most of the time it works. AC power or battery. Dell WFP2408.

It now works with pretty much any monitor. Make sure you are putting out the right signal in the settings, DVI or HDMI.

I just ran into this problem and went into the SYSTEM then PREVIEW Changed monitor refresh rate and DVI or 720 settings. Messed with it untill it gave me picture.
