It would be interesting to know where 18% grey falls in RAW mode sporting false colors. Could someone with an upgraded camera test? Has it been recalibrated or did it stay the same?

cheers, Xax

It really doesn't matter where it falls in RAW mode. Only in the mode you choose to shoot in.

As to weather or not there is a new false color, there is the new clipping meter and the traditional false color.

Why doesn't it matter where it falls in RAW mode?

I've always went with "if it's red in RAW mode it's gone", but it could be red in REDspace...

Every bit of information about how much exposure each portion of the image is registering in the RAW path can be instructive in choosing your stop. The evolution of the metering in the new firmware (B 30x) is a welcome advancement IMHO.

The new "multi" key for toggling from E "exposure" that reads red for at or near clip and purple for areas in the noise floor is a useful reference point the F "focus" selection can be used for quick focus checks and with another click you are in V which is the old false color so you can see where various things in the frame fall, including the bright green for 18% gray.

The histogram still reflects the RGB (monitor) levels but now has RAW referenced "goal posts" to clue you in on how much is clipped or in the noise floor.

Terrific improvements, big props to Stuart, Deanan and the entire Red Team for reworking these tools to dramatically improve their value.

Good luck getting any info about the upgraded Reds. Maybe you'll have better luck than I.

This will be for M sensors as well in a week or so.

It would be interesting to know this as well- I've asked about getting the new manual for the GUI, but it appears it is not ready yet. ( http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41040 ).

From what I have heard there is a new false color, and there are new measuring tools, but what and how they work has yet to be revealed ...
