I'm in the middle of a shoot and I'm having some urgent issues in recovering some footage we have just shot for a pilot.

The footage was shot on a Red One and some of the files which came off our 16GB flash cards with a bug.

The file when you play it back through quicktime proxies comes up with a green screen with no footage. In Red Alert the footage does not play at all and freezes on a single frame.

So far I have rebuilt the cards through Red Undead and then transcoded the new R3D files to quicktime prores through Red Rushes this has work in recovering some of the files but others freeze only afer 1 second of playing and some do not play at all.

I do not know what could have caused the fault as the camera recorded 8 cards perfectly before the problem appeared. I am still missing about 15 shots that I urgently need to recover for our production.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried different hardware? Different card readers, different fw cables, different destination media, different computer? Are the cards and reader adequately cooled? Is this one card or several?

Whatever you do, dont overwrite the original media until you have severl known good copies on different media.

Try reinstalling the Red QT component.

Did you try rebuilding the Quicktime Proxies in RedAlert? Import the R3D file into Redalert and do File -> Make Quicktimes

I get this problem quite often, along with a loud beep if recording audio.

It usually just needs recopying. I think its something to do with your firewire cables or card readers.

Do you have the original CF Cards? Does the footage play off them ok?

(and R3D Datamanager is a great bit of SW for peace of mind, if youre not using it already)
