Been looking for information about 3rd party batteries that will work specifically with the Red One. Does anybody know of any lists or sources that give information about some of the different battery solutions for the Red One?

Thanks.

Global Media Pro have some batteries for RED. There are also other suppliers, but none I can remember off the top of my head.

I will report my thoughts once I have used them.

How smart it is to use any of these batteries? Do any of these third-party batteries properly shut down the camera and stop recording if they are about to run out of power?

The Switronix batteries and the new IDX batteries can properly communicate with the camera, so the camera then knows when power is dropping low and shuts itself down.

SWIT batteries have a new RED compatible battery (communicates with camera). They are chinese and would recommend them for personal use but not for rentals (The plastic housing feels cheap). My 2 cents.

Just want to clarify....SWIT and Switronix are 2 different companies. I'm sure at least a few RED users can vouch for our XP-L95RED and 190RED quality. We have a rubberized casing which is very solid.

Abel Cine Tech stocks and is great source for the RED version Switronix batts, as well as our chargers, and all other non-red Switronix products.
