I'm in Seattle, which doesn't have a huge filmmaking industry. But just a few hundred miles north is a little bit of land :sarcasm: called Vancouver Island where all sorts of films get made. It has brought the question to my mind... what permits are needed to rent my camera, plus maybe myself, to Canadian productions? Or, for that matter, what permits are needed to rent cameras to any of the multitude of foreign countries in the world? When I cross the border, I assume I'll have to say "business" instead of "pleasure"... but what else am I going to need beyond that simple phrase?

You're going to need to say "eh" a lot and grin to show which teeth you've lost whenever you take a puck to the face.

Seriously though, it's a fairly free enterprise environment here. You'll need proof of ownership of any gear you bring across and that's about it.

A lot of Reds are on reserve up here already and are shipping in about a month so if you just got yours you'll have the field to yourself for the next four and half weeks. Then the flood of inbound Reds begin.

I won't have mine until December, but I figure maybe there will still be room up there if enough activity is going on. Probably more activity than down here anyway, but I guess only time will tell.
