I believe the widest lens is a 7mm Digiprime. How that translates to 1/2 inch and 35mm is at my rough estimate a 5mm and a 14mm?

The freestyle 3d rig is all sold out?
Also, do you know if you can set the cameras in the other config where one camera is pointing down instead of up so that you can get as close to ground as possible? Are you limited to the 2nd camera pointing upwards into the beamsplitter?
I emailed PS Technik but was wondering what the limitations of the freestyle rig compared to say the standard rig?
Thanks,
Norm

Just did some 3D steadicam last night at a Black eyed peas concert. Me and the other operator we both wishing we had this rig! Our rig was......well a bit heavy.....but it worked. I'll post some pics when I get a chance....
I can't wait until I get ahold of this rig.

I suppose you mean on a high hat? Because on Steadicam you would just go upside down. You are right, maybe an upside down cage of some sort needs to be built for high hats.
Pedro, Post some pictures! What cameras did you have in there? How heavy do you reckon the Alexa Arri will be compared to the RED?

Yep, on a high-hat or even low-mode on a dolly.

Was the Freestyle 3D rig expensive Patric? How is it?
Thanks,

Patric what is your rental rates for the freestyle 3Drig?

Hi Norm,
The rig itself is EUR 39,000.00. Then you need camera plates. It has active IO and convergence controlled wireless via a cmotion LCS. It is a beautiful rig. Just had cases designed at Lemsford in the UK. cant wait to have it all cased up and out working. Lots of playing to be done before then.
The package book rate is under review

Trying to get approval to post some pictures of the concert. We used Sony ex3's.
Alexa? Humm hard to say. Lighter for sure. Enough to make a big enough difference? not sure. Plus it looks close in lenght. As we know once you put a lens on the red it gets long! The farther you move that weight away from center the more issues we have...
Also I just did another 3D steadicam last monday. We used a prototype horizontal beamsplitter. The "L" just turned on it's side. We were shooting some material for the Discovery channel.
I'm on location right now in fact, and tomorrow I'm flying another rig again for discovery 3D. This time it's a very nice prototype by a famous manufacturer (not sure I can talk about it). We using 2 si2k's and c-mount lenses. The overall "rig" is very small and lightweight. Can't wait to try it out!
There is always lots of pictures being taken, it's just a question of me getting approval to post public.
At this point I would LOVE to get my hands on a "freestyle" rig! So far looks like the best steadicam 3D setup to date!

Can the freestyle rig mount to a fluid, underslung, or geared head so that it can be on a dolly or tripod? I'm not clear on how it mounts. Is it limited to steadicam and handheld only?
Can you somehow mount it to a Weaver Steadman or Lambda head off of a dolly so so that it's right at ground level? Would it have to be mounted upside down...is that even possible?
Just curious as to it's absolute limitations. I can see it being perfect for Steadicam and Handheld but want to see if it can be used in other applications as well.
Thanks,
Norm

It all looks surprisingly small! Can't wait to see Epic rigs.
Can it be used mounted upside down?

I'd love to check out that P+S technik rig Patric. Do you have it available for us to take a look at some point? We are shooting at Pinewood this week but next week, if possible, would love to see whether we can implement it into our possible options...
I'll call at some point this week to discuss....

Yes, Upside down will be fine. I have gone into low-mode and the stereoscoper had no problem re-calibrating/tweaking. Really a bracket needs to be built that would hold on to the two well placed rosettas. P+S are thinking about it. That was with 2 heavy RED cameras on-board.
Yes, we had it on a Romford Atlas 7 head the other day and were able to do full tilt downs with the correct clearance.
I reckon I can get this rig into an AR rig.
Pedro, I wonder what rig you will be playing with? Elementa Technica or Paradise FX or even a different one. Let us know how you feel. I think there is a lot of value with Patrics rig in that you can use any cameras or lenses rather than being tied to Schneider or Lidos and SI-2K. What do you think. I suppose the proof will be in the bookings for Patric.
