Can you autosync WAV files in RED Rocket? If not how do I convert WAV to BWF, because the WAV I have, have timecode embedded in them, at least whe I import them into the AVID....

cheers

BWF is a Wav file with extensions for timecode which turns it into BWF (Broadcast Wav File).

Rocketcine has it now. REDcine will support it very soon.

so wav files import natively for autosync, or do I need to change the file extension to bwf?

I suspect if the WAV files have timecode in them, RocketCine-X will see it to use for syncing. I think the syncing feature in RocketCine is a nice feature but as it stands now, you need to check with the sound department what their deliverables will be from you and from editorial. In the case of features, they will want the EDL to have at least the file name, and I don't believe that information is passed along at this time once synced. All you get is the timecode. With some productions, it may not matter - for example if only 4 tracks of audio are being used then this workflow would be fine. When more than 4 tracks are being used, the production needs to ensure a full metadata path back to the masters and which tracks (1-4) were used in the synced clip used in editorial.

thanks michael, the autosync is purely for dailies for DVD and dailies for my web material, my avid material will be exported seperately and synced normally via AVID's autosync....

thanks for the tip anyway
