Correct me if I'm wrong but, this looks to be the highest capacity CF module that's fast enough to handle the 27M/sec RedCode:

..now to get my hands on a red...

I think (I might be wrong!) that only the 300x are fast enough. 266x might not quite cut it. Some shots will be fine but others might have a few problems as the data rate is variable and peaks slightly higher than the capacity that 266's can handle.

I believe that you need X300 media for Red. Apparently, Samsung is already doing a x300 16GB card.

Check Jim's posts on the subject- the Redcode Raw datarate is not fixed, it is variable depending on scene content, and he has already confirmed that 266x is not fast enough if the scene has much detail.

Will probably work for 2K, though, if needed.

How much recording would fit on a 16G card, say in 1080p (which might be the resolution many of us might initially work with).

Since 1080p is not a Red camera option (but a software export afterwards) the question is not very interesting (why should you save to CF cards after exporting)…
But normally it would be around 1GB pr minute.

We have found that not many CF cards match their specs... unfortunately. Some meet their specs for a short period and drop down at times. Which is a bad thing.
We expect that these problems will go away when CF cards get faster, but right now the pickings are slim.

Is it the SanDisk Extreme® Ducati Edition Compact Flash one of the picks?

I (for one) really like the idea of using CF as a back up recording medium in case of disaster (the intern has left the RED RAID back at the shop) or if you are on location and have filled up the primary recording device and just need that one last shot.... It would be extremely helpful (and the RED team has been very helpful indeed) if RED could post a list of "compatible cards" in the future (as more become available) OR if they wanted to brand and sell their own I'm down with that, too.
