Now that you've delivered the first 25 cameras and some accessories. Do you at Red have any new updates as far as delivery schedule for the next batch and the rest of production?

This made me wonder....
How exact (honest) is the numbering sytem? If you are number 100, will you get the 100th made?
In other words if 99 was just shipped and Janusz Kaminski calls up and says I'd like to buy one to test and use, does he get 100 or do you tell him he has to wait in line?

Don't think Janusz would buy one, he'd probably just rent one...

He would go to the back of the line, or he would be directed to somebody to rent from.
Since RED didn't say that the schedule changed, I'd be comfortable guessing that it still holds true.

Well I think part of the point was lost - It would seem to me that Red would put a camera in the hands of industry "stars" if they asked for it. So just wondering what happens to those waiting in line.

There are 25 named "Beta" units that preceded all the serial numbered units. So if any Hollywood production comes calling, they can use some of those. After that, the serial number is the correct order of things.
Jim already announced that they are having a certain amount of slip from IBC (how much is unknown). Plus you have to remember that the previous schedule was *tentative*. So if they have trouble scaling up production then that could delay. I felt the previous schedule had a very aggresive ramp up estimate.

I was just going off of this post by Jim on the 24th of August.
Serial numbers 1-25 will be delivered August 31st (next Friday).
Serial numbers 26-50 will be delivered Sept, 7th (following Friday).
There will be a slight delay due to IBC for the next batch of deliveries.
We'll keep you posted.

Hehe, sorry... just being realistic. Knowing that they've run out of LCDs (Jim had to sell his own personal one, even), the EVF supply is extremely short, and AFAIK, there aren't any RED-DRIVEs shipping yet, I don't think anyone in the second group (50-100) should get their hopes up. Unfortunately, that includes me as well. :-\
Understand, I know they have a lot on their hands, and clearly this isn't easy. And I would absolutely love to be proved wrong. :-)

"Ok, we have 3000 orders, so lets build another 500 and see where that takes us."

No matter what they had said in the past, the truth is that this is Jim and Red's first camera and it's really hard to give an accurate schedule on something they were making for the first time.

I wonder if the third installment will also be in increments of 25. Being number 76, I would LOVE to know if I'm in the next shipment or the one after that.

26-50 will be delivered tomorrow (Friday the 7th). 51-100 will be delivered from Sept. 22-25th.
