I just read up a little on the new router that Cisco has announced. I can see high quality video over the net. Our future is looking good. Red is rocking and will continue to do so as the rest of the world catches up.

There's a whole lot more that goes into delivering something like this than a new router. It's going to take the carriers a few years to trickle these devices in plus they need a reason to actually give video a priority.

Their efforts right now are mostly focused on making somebody pay to "transmit data through their pipes" rather than improving delivery. An example is when you do a google search the carriers want a cut of what google is making off the ads because it's going over "their" pipes.

Considering the % of bandwidth that is consumed by piracy I would love to see the ISPs try and get a share of Google's ad revenues.

The second they prove that they're entitled to compensation for a valuable commodity traveling through 'their' pipes is the second they've opened themselves to liability for piracy.
