Yeah, but that many cores definitely needs apps that have been tested using this:

edit: for some reason the link takes you to something other than the Petra home page. maybe just type it into a search engine. I've been to the home page and it looks nothing like the link above sends you to. But basically, it is a startup company that has developed a software solution that helps stop apps from crashing by assigning steps to specific spots on specific processors of a multi-processor machine that keeps the computer from placing that information on various cores at various times. This explains why an app can work fine for a hundred times and then crash when information is loaded out of sync on the 101st time.
