Yes, looks to me like a director's viewfinder with DV-Cam attached to record some of the shots he wants later. That way he could have a sketchbook stored on his laptop for future reference...
Just guessing though...

In the making of "A Very Long Engagement" I'm pretty sure I remember them printing out an on-set storyboard of screen shots from their pentafinder (which I'm guessing had some kind of digital interface - maybe it was from the device above?)...looked really cool.
