It would be great to be able to connect a laptop over the USB port to the cam and control camera settings (online & before connecting with offline mode), up- and download looks, or run a camera diagnostic program.
Was this mentioned before? Any chance to get such a laptop app in the future, maybe with EPIC?

Future of Epic for sure ( not USB but wirelessly or Ethernet ) .... on RED ONE it is possible to do all of the above with a USB cable, but is not on our short list of things to get to.

I'd say the thread title would be a good hint ;)
RED workflow would be a good place. In answer to your question there is no right or wrong answer as such it depends on facilities/time/money. Strictly speaking if your end put is Blu-RAY then 2K would more than suffice resolution wise. I tend to shoot full resolution whenever possible personally.
