Preparing for several shoots this week, stating tomorrow and wanted to use the new 30 build, we've been using build 20.1 up until now.

We shot 2 weeks ago, no issues, the camera has not been used since then. Upgraded today and after completing black shading calib and rebooting we now see this....

The dot's are only visible once light can get to the sensor. They do not change when a lens is added. The shots below are with a lens, the dots are unaffected with the lens removed.

Tried looking at the sensor with a sensor lope but cannot see this pattern.

Any help would be so appreciated.....

Have two cameras and upgraded both from 30.3.1 to 30.4.1. Camera B upgraded fine... no problems. Camera A had a jumpy image in the monitor upon boot up. Tried to re-black shade and got a message to re-format the CF card. I had already done so but tried to again. The camera was caught in black shading hell and finally had to power down and just reinstall the new firmware and re-black shade. All is well now.

Went back to build 21... re-did the black calib, problem gone! This is good news, but bad news.

On build 30 we did the black calib 3 times, nothing cured the large dots.

I assume that you installed Build 30.4.1? Please confirm.

When you have time, go back to Build 30 again. For no apparent reason it will probably just work!

You need to repeat the entire process a few times before deciding it didn't work, not just black shade.

Best of luck!

These are M or MX cameras?

Try restoring the factory cal, restoring settings, and then upgrading to 30 with a black shade.

And make sure it is 30.4.1

I assume this was directed at Shaun because after reinstalling Build 30.4.1, my cameras are both fine.

Yes, build 30.4.1 - - - Red One M cam.

Deanan, I can email you a full rez pic.... could I have your email address please.

I am busy giving it one more try after a major sigh of relief that I could get it back to life.

OK, just reinstalled build 30.4.1.... problem is back, darn.

I checked for the dots upon reboot after the firmware upgrade from the re-installed build 21, so running build 30.4.1 but not having done the black calib - - - no dots were present!

I then did the black shade calib, immediately after this the dots are back...

Going back again to build 21, so at least we have a camera.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Deanan for trying to help out on this beyond these posts, a Sunday and the RED team responds as quickly as these posts show, a most comforting thought, thank you.

Shaun, if you have time to test today, we have a different firmware build for you to try. Hopefully it will clear this up.

Can you e-mail me please at stuart@red.com
