Hi All,

I making a feature to be shot on Red. The feature is a travel movie and i will have of plenty of angles to be shot within the cabin of the van used. All these angles will have to be taken from behind the seat, from windows on either side, in front of the bonnet, close wheel shots, etc. It will need frontal, OTS, left and right angle and for each I will need to separately rig the camera. Most of the shots will have to be done with the van in motion.

I am looking for advice as to what are the best rigging options for the Red. Also if i need to take different angle shots for the same scene are there any quick options of rigging which will save me production time. What are options to rig the camera on the dash board of the van?

Looking forward for your inputs.

Thanks,
Anand

Have you considered having the car on a low loader, and then the camera could be on a tripod around the car (plus you could rig some lights as well)? Us a polarizer when shooting through the windows.

While there are a few options for rigging the Red camera to a car, I think Martin's suggestion would be the best for a travel movie like you describe.

Low loader is definitely the way to go. Otherwise any decent grip can put the camera anywhere you want. Low loader saves time between positions though as you just move the camera instead of building a whole new rig every time.

Yes a process trailer is the best tool for this job, might cost more up front but will save you crew time rigging and shoot days. Plus it's a lot safer for gear and crew.

I vote for safely mounted Steadicam through back/side door of a van - thsi si how we do most of our on-cars.

Super Techno crane on a process truck and let it roll!

We can build you an affordable custom rig that will do that.

Are you shooting in the US, India, or Some where else?

PM me?
