Forgive my ignorance. I am aware that MX upgrades are happening. Where can I find the FAQ, thread, sticky, or whatever, that tells me all I need to know about when and how to upgrade. I've a few questions:
1) Trade In option/price?
2) When/How I inform RED of what option I want to do?
3) Will RED contact me when my number's up?
4) If I upgrade to MX on RED ONE do I forfeit trade in for EPIC?
5) Aside from design are there any functional and image differences between Epic and RED ONE with MX upgrade?
Someone please direct me to the right link.
Thanks,
TIM

Forgive my ignorance. I am aware that MX upgrades are happening. Where can I find the FAQ, thread, sticky, or whatever, that tells me all I need to know about when and how to upgrade. I've a few questions:
1) Trade In option/price?
2) When/How I inform RED of what option I want to do?
A lot of us are still waiting on all the details and info to come out. We won't be notified about trade-in options until there is something to trade up to. I wouldn't expect to hear any of this until the TATTOO program has started.
3) Will RED contact me when my number's up?
Yes. For trade in and MX sensor upgrade, you will be notified when it's your turn. Currently they are servicing MX upgrades for cameras delivered on or before Feb. 2008.
4) If I upgrade to MX on RED ONE do I forfeit trade in for EPIC?
No! In fact, if you qualify for Stage-1 EPIC-X (TATTOO) or opt in for the Stage-2 upgrade, you get a credit of $1250 if you upgrade your RED One or have upgraded it. Thus making the sensor upgrade price $4500. It's regular price is $5750.
5) Aside from design are there any functional and image differences between Epic and RED ONE with MX upgrade?
Same sensor. However, the Epic-X offers more power and features such as higher frame rates and the ability to record 5K, etc.. With the MX-upgraded RED One, it is still the same camera as it is with the original Mysterium sensor. It still records all the same frame sizes / resolutions and frame rates. What you do get that is new is a sensor with more DR and way lower noise floor.
Someone please direct me to the right link.
I would've, but the info is spread out between a few different threads and it was quicker to respond than to hunt them down. But there's some in the MX Upgrade thread and the Nov 30th thread and a few others...

Thanks. So I guess I just shoot and wait until that magic day. Sounds like a no brainer - buy it when my number's up.
last question:
6) What's the ETA on the upgrades? How fast is it moving along? My # is 5252 (grip/electric friendly lol)

There is no official word on how fast they are moving, nor any estimates about when certain numbers may be called.
There have been a few delays, but they seem to be on track. At the moment it's still in the low or perhaps mid hundreds I think.
I'm in the mid 2,000s and not expecting to be called for a few months. Still, things could start moving faster.

Currently no serial # above 600 has been called but they aren't going by serial. My guess is they will finish up with this batch by the end of next week.
