So based on the new prices for all the addons.. anyone figure out how much it would cost to get something similar to the premium production pack?

Well, here is my breakdown of the production pack which is $1250

Top Mount - $250
Top Handle - $150
Red Cradle - $750
Battery Plate - $175
Red Bottom Plate - $600
Shoulder Dovetail - $550
Red Handle - $250
Steel 24" Rods (2) - $70
Universal Mount - $100

(Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong here)

If purchased separately - $2,895

I think once we see more set-ups we can get
a feel for what else you might (want) need.

the question for all who ordered the premium package stays:

how will it be handled? do i have to put a new order for the stuff i want?
or will all the stuff i ordered within the premium package be shipped for a higher prize?
or can i delete the order (how?) of the premium package and put a new order on my list?

maybe the red team can answer this for the whole forum, would be the most shorten way.

I'd like to know what is needed for a decent package too. Please help a geezer out and answer the following for me if anyone knows...

Do we need the bolt set? do we need the focus hook?
Do we need a red bottom plate, or will a mattebox base do the trick?

Do we need a back lens cap, or are our lenses coming with front and back caps as you would expect?

Do we need a port "body" cap? Surely the red is delivered with one of these to protect the sensor?!

Where is the LCD and its arm mounted if you dont have a top mount?

Does the EVF come with a cable?

Cheers folks!

ok...so here's the deal as i understand it.

I ordered and paid a deposit for the premium production pack back in april and they said they will honor the order at the same price. if anyone else had enough insight to order and pay a deposit, i would call and confirm just to save ass...

if you didn't order and pay for a deposit you will have to ala carte.

i can answer a few of those questions....

your lenses will come with front and back caps....but not a bad idea to have some back ups. same with the port cap...it will be supplied w/ camera.

the focus hook is strongly recommended (assuming you will be using 35mm lenses). don't know why this is an additional item but hey...your ac will need it if you want to stay sharp.

the evf comes with a short interface cable as does the monitor. you can get extensions if you'd like.

thats all i can really confirm. hope this helps.

no...the ram and sata is still there....everything that was offered before is still available. not all of the old stuff is on the new store site. i would recommend you call and double check your order. they are very busy and i could understand how orders can get mixed up in the confusion.

maybe red just opens a "premium ordered" thread as they did for the payment "confusion" and all those who ordered the premium package would be happy to get information how to handle the order.
i want to avoid to get a camera without any kind of basic oder premium kit, at this moment there´s actually confusion...

Well i added the additional pieces to make what i think is the premium package to the basic and it comes out $75 more than the original $2750. Can anyone confirm what was in the Premium Package?

RED1225... I'm not sure where you got the confirmation that we would honor the deal. I have posted otherwise and no employee has confirmed what you just said. If you have different info, please let me know.

The good news is we are honoring the Base Production Package and add-ons to get you where you want to go are similarly priced and much better parts than you ordered back at NAB.

Your deposit will transfer to your final order.

That is certainly more than fair. Compared to most companies, RED is such a breath of fresh air!

Since your here Jim. Am I right; early reservation holders don't need to worry about purchasing or putting a deposit on accessories until it's time for camera delivery, correct?

Hi Jim,

I spoke with Brent Carter (sorry Brent) yesterday. I asked about the premium production package being discontinued and told him I was upset because I had the insight to preorder and had paid the deposit.

In any event...my goal was to make sure I had all the pieces that I would need to equal the premium production package even if I had to ala carte...Brent said that I would still receive the ppp at no extra cost.

I don't really care if it cost me a few extra bucks...I just want to make sure that my order is what I need to get up and running when it arrives.

My question is....do I need to redo my order like I did yesterday?

Please advise.

I've got the same request. Send a mail out to the customer that has a downpayment for the premium package with the new prices. I don't really care if the parts have a package name or not. I still want them. And I'm not buying into the idea of a "buy as you need" a la carte concept. Lead times and freight costs would make that rather awkward. I'd rather by a piece or two I might not ever use than to try to foresee every future need. If a Red system with lenses comes down to $70K, I want any rod, handles or adapter ready if a need arises. If they are machined and of better quality, I'm probably willing to pay the new price.

I will be shocked if anyone orders exactly what was in the old Premium Package when it comes to to receive your camera. Completely shocked. Time will tell.

As a customer, I thought I wanted a Premium Package. That's why I created it. Now, I have a different set-up. I will never use 4 side rails in a million years. I might use two. So I have two in my bag.

Just saying...

Hey Jim, Before we pickup our Reds, will we be allowed to test out what works and what doesn't work for us on site?

Well...you've been in close contact with the camera for a year or two now so I would hope you have an idea of how you want it configured...some of us have still not had the opportunity to see or use the camera yet.

I think the idea of one handle for hand held is ridiculous. Why not make it two??? To each there own...just saying.

I just want to make sure my order is accurate. Who can I speak with at RED that will give me solid info re: orders?

Don't get me wrong Jim...I'm very excited about RED and all of it's features...and look forward to working with it. I just want some accurate info from your people.
Please advise.
