Freeze frame problems with Reds & Transvideo 3D monitor, huh? :o

Hi,

We are shooting with a pair of Reds, they are genlocked + TC jammed with Lockit ACL203 boxes. We also have the transvideo 3D monitor. We are shooting at 25FPS 4.5K and our lockit boxes feed our cameras 1080P/25P/NDF (3/2/2). Our cameras feed transvideo from SDI outputs. Reds are configured to output at 720/50P.

We have a weird problem, the monitor sometimes works fine for a while, then the other camera's picture freezes. Like a still frame from a while ago. Even rebooting the cameras won't help. The genlock "padlock" icon is ok, as is the TC jam sync "chain" icon... It's always the same camera. We've changed the cables several times, etc.

Both of the inputs work fine in 2D mode, ie. SD1 and SD2 separately.

Any ideas what might be going on? Hmm I just started wondering, could it be because we are feeding our cameras 1080/25P sync, and then outputting at 720/50P?

Yes well documented issue,

just powercycle the sync box until you get your picture back.

Something funky with "genlocked" output from red. Whenever you use playback or turn off tranvideo sometimes when coming back this will happen. Just keep power cycling until it's back to normal.

Worst case thats not working try different outputs on your sync box. When using aja gen10 you have 6 outputs. For some reason, some of them I have better luck with.

Yeah, we solved this issue by jam syncing the sync boxes from a master TC generator.
