First time working with the RR and Redcine-x on a 3-Camera job. Pretty stable and fast.
I've had issues with the following:
-When I zoom into 100% on the viewer, and then try to zoom back to fit the image, it shows black, and I need to restart R-X.
-Some windows would "stick open" even when you tried to open/close them.
-Using Shift to multi-select in thumbnail mode doesn't work. Why not?
-Export tool: when you choose "ask for output filename", sometimes it doesn't ask you...
-Image tool: Redcolor/Redgamma don't hold as settings, and intermittently I notice it changes back to redspace/rec709
-Once you mount a drive, you cannot unmount it with R-X open. Not helpful.
I'd like to see these things in future releases:
-Email/SMS of when your trans-codes are done. Would be great to have options to let you know per roll #, per job...etc. Flexibility is key.
-An Excel Spreadsheet output of the data created by the trans-codes, with user selectable data. I made my own listing Roll#, Size, and Clip range. An option to email this to clients would be great as well.
-Remote viewing/control of the trans-coding window might be interesting as well. On this particular job we have two red techs, and it would be great if they could watch the batch list to know my progress. Think of it like google docs, where you can invite people to view the doc, edit, invite other people, share...etc. Permissions are a must.
-SCOPES
-Better window management. I know that each window is "loose" so as to be flexible for multi-display setups, but on a one setup display it looks sloppy, and it's cumbersome to manage.
-Additionally, faster window management is needed. Think of FCP where you can save your layout in the menu. You don't have to wait for the browser to load...etc
-The export tool is great, but needs a lot more power and flexibility. We do a lot of repetitive work, and it would be great to enable some automated aspects of it.
-Saving Look Presets. They are way too easy to delete.
- More bins. There are 3. I am on a 3 camera shoot. Not enough.
The camera's are built modular, so why not the software?
