From what I have figured out so far there are no options for meter scales on red lenses. Everything is feet only. Half the world is metric. Please have an option of meter scales.
If a focus puller has to mix a set of metric primes like S4s with feet red zooms he will not be happy and I don't like to see taped meter scales on the anodized nice black housing:bye2:

yes, i can sing a song about feet lenses which i must retape in meters, it looks like bullshit, and it is sticky and uncomfortable.

I'll second this .. it seems such a shame.
I'm totally hanging out for our Red zoom, though down here in Australia feet markings are going to cause issues..

Half the world is metric.
Ehm... make that 95% (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication) (map (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:SI-metrication-world.png)) :)

Yes, it looks so looking at the pictures in the Red Store section.
Europe and other metric regions of the world really need a metric scale.
Either the scale could be a dual one or the buyer would select the scale whem ordering the lens? I guess even paying some extra money would be ok as long as the metric scale is there?

Both scales are even on my tiny 85 mm Nikkor.
I always thougt cubic feet is some kind of deformation.

I spoke to Brian about this on IBC today. Looks like this issue will be addressed from RED. But I must say best would be if the scale would show both.

Around 94% of man kind has agreed. Three countries have not officially adopted the International System of Units as their primary or sole system of measurement: Liberia, Burma and the United States. See map. (source Wikipedia).
It's time for the French to give up the fight for the international language of choice together with burrying the foots and inches forever.
If I'm forced to learn a whole bleeding second language, adopting a few units of measurement is the least you can do for global love and understanding. Uhm.... part from the small favour freeing the world from Hitler and that. ehm... did I say thanks?
Well, anyways, remember the words of John Lennons Imagine. A world without religion and war. The solution is metric markings on the Red lenses!!! I'm sure of it!
EDIT - With help from bakalaj, I guess that the people of Burma prefer Burma over Myanmar, right? My appologies for beeing ignorant to Burmese politics.

By Myanmar Jack of course means Burma. Yeah, there are three backwards countries left in the world. Mind you, in Canada you have to know imperial measurements as well, if you ever hope to buy anything in home improvement stores. Painful. In a forward-looking industry such as digital cinema, we shoudn't even need to have this discussion... :-)

"Backwards" is a bit harsh, but it is about time i think.

Several parts of Asia and niche areas in the middle-east and africa also don't conform. But I think the Wikipedia map is a political map and not technically accurate. There's probably only the few countries where their official governments haven't converted. Mountain villages in China who still measure with units based on Yu the Great's middle finger probably don't qualify.

If we get Liberian and Burmese governments adopt the metric system, would Red then consider the metric scale? ;)
