The latest BETA version of RED ONE camera firmware has been posted on www.red.com/support - Build 30 RED ONE Beta Firmware, v30.4.9 (password-protected).

Note: This firmware supports FLUT™ and REDcolor Color Science for Mysterium and Mysterium-X based RED-ONE cameras, and addition of REDCODE 42 for 3K and 2K recording modes.

Changes since last beta Build 30 release (v30.4.1):
* Improved black level calibration for Mysterium sensor.
* Re-instated 2K 2:1 recording at 118 – 120 fps for Mysterium-X sensor.
* Updated EXPOSURE false color low threshold.
* Freeze of TIME OF DAY timecode output from LEMO 5-pin connector when not in Record.
* Added Edge Code Value to LTC location on HD-SDI outputs.
* Changed default for User Key 3 and User Key 5 to COLOR (was MULTI)
* Added remote enable / disable of COLOR to GPI/O menu selection.
* Support for SHUTTER (exposure time) in Degrees or 1/Sec format
* Exit of Black Shading operation if started when in MAGNIFY mode.

ALWAYS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE DOWNLOADED INSTALLATION FILES BEFORE PROCEEDING.

WARNING: AS THIS IS A BETA BUILD, THIS FIRMWARE IS RECOMMENDED FOR PREVIEW AND TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE ON COMMERCIAL PRODUCTIONS.

NOTE: After upgrading firmware, a BLACK SHADING calibration should be performed. Detailed instructions are contained in the Operations Guide ( http://www.red.com/support/release_history/12 ).

If you have any questions or feedback, please contact RED Technical Support at www.red.com/support.

Thanks, BC

Is this enabled by an option in the menus? On my last show, this would have killed the sound guys. For some reason ($) they werent able to generate TC, so they were taking the Red TC from the lemo connection. Having TC freeze seems like it would have potentially been bad in this situation.

* Improved black level calibration for Mysterium sensor.

This sounds interesting! Can someone from RED elaborate?

Have already done the update and am going through it now.

* Added remote enable / disable of COLOR to GPI/O menu selection.

Thanks... If it's an easy thing to do, adding MULTI, ZOOM and RAW view on the GPIO could be very useful too.

Also to consider for future versions : add 25% and 75% look around opacity options.

Any test reports?

I'm about to load up and do a quick test, starting a feature in the morning, the DP would love to go Build 30 with all the sweet exposure tools. I'm likely to play it safe though and hold at build 21.

Go for it.

I shot a film on a testpilot build a few weeks back with no problems, but I was using a pre-release build.

Load it up and do some tests, if things feel dark, contact red or revert to 21. You can still apply redspace and redgamma to build 21 clips.

* Improved black level calibration for Mysterium sensor.

Thanks for the update.

Since this is an extremely important function, can you give us more information on what improvements were made?

Thanks much,

Does the standard PL mount need to be in place when doing a firmware upgrade, or can I safely do it with the Nikon mount on the RED ONE?

You don't need the PL mount.
