So were you not renting your M-X??

I still say this is pretty unexciting without a REDRushes that supports REDColor and REDGamma...

I just finished a job with one of Abel's MX bodes, and we ran 30.4.1. I know it's a bit hairy for a rental house to use a beta firmware build, but the only issue that ever popped up with Abel's camera was one instance where the camera failed to post and that take was lost. Everything else (shooting about 3 TB on that camera) was smooth sailing.

Thanks for the release Build,
But, please Redrushes with .rdm support!!!
Red Line/Red Rushes is so critical in the work flow, it's so hard without them.
It's would be nice if they are Rocket enable but just Color and Gama aware would be a dream here.
All of our scripts are not usable and it's a such headache.
Please update RedLine to match build 30.5.0 Color/Gama

I think you guys have long since exceeded the resolving power of my Nikon mount lenses, but I guess these new builds are good for other things too. All I'm sayin' is, you take the time to build 'em, I'll take the time to install them, even if it does become and everyday thing. :)

false color MULTI User Key,
Good, I was wondering why it was missing in the 30.4.9 build...

Thank you Red Team!
Looks like this one solved my problems with the crushed blacks.
Love the Redcode 42 for 2K and 3K, visible quality improvement with highspeed in 2K.

Can someone point me to a thread that has actual descriptions from Red of FLUT and Shadow controls in Build 30.
It's frustrating trying to use the Search function here. Lots of hit, next to no information.
Thank you,
Nelson

So can you still use footage shot with this build on the old Redcine? The new RedcineX has proved to be unworkable on my pc based Avid system so far.

* Improved black level calibration for Mysterium sensor.
Thanks for the continued updates! Quick question though:
Since this is an extremely important function, can you give us more information on what improvements were made?

Anyone have real examples of how the USB is used on the RedOne? I was thinking of powering my iphone or my Oakley Sunglasses (the mp3 bluetooth phone ones)

We had to discuss each rental with the production and get a waiver signed so that they understood the liability. Wasn't too huge a deal but did make for a couple of uncomfortable conversations.

Only use so far that I recall is linking two R-1s together as master/slave to set the slave camera to the exact settings as the Master when setting it up. May be something more that I'm unaware of.

So why have the usb? But hey it has a USB for something ( just one of those obvious questions to ask.. like asking why is there no USB for the ipad?)

It's been awhile, but during the first Reducation- we discovered you could upgrade builds with a USB drive.

I got a little USB snake light for mine, like this one but all in black:

Much smaller and lighter than what I used in the film days:

Why do you all need redrushes... use clipfinder !
It does the same if you want and much more and better....

I heard build 30 does not work with Clipfinder (or some parts). I really do rely on clipfinder alot.

Because Clipfinder's rendering uses REDLine just like REDRushes does. So no new REDLine/REDRushes = no new clipfinder. Currently, the last free version of Clipfinder supports the new colorspace/gamma, but when you go to render footage out it moves it over to the REC709 setting. He can't do anything about rendering until a new version comes out. However, I am afraid that it's going to cost money since he's moving to a paid program for clipfinder.

This is not quite true. There is a new version of Clipfinder that uses RedCine X as its rendering engine. It's here (http://www.daun.ch/hamingja/clipfinder2.5.html) It does cost $100, and speed-wise, it's limited to the speeds of RedCine - great if you have a 'Rocket, not-so-great if you don't.

Ummm...
Clipfinder uses Redline to render the clips. Redline does not yet support the new Color science but it is coming very soon.
Redrushes renders very quickly.

Yes. this is true, but I do not belive that the rendering is optimized quite as well as it it in REDLINE.
If you look at the activity monitor during a RC-x render vs. a Clipfiner/redline or redrushes/redline render you will see that more of the cores are being enabled with REDLINE.
As M Fuller correctly states, If you have redrocket this is not an issue.

USB for Master / Slave is quite useful for several applications including 3D rigs...

I have a USB Light for my old laptop that I now use as a lens light thanks to the USB port on the side of the camera.

Before this build I had the build 30.4.0 where the button on the lcd was a multitouch button: 1st touch>exposure, 2nd touch>video, 3rd touch>edge higlight. I can't recreat this in the latest build, any suggestion?

Just key-map user key 5 to 'Multi' (last selection to the right)

I found a black one on eBay, under $5 with shipping. You can find them under various keywords like "snake" "notebook" "laptop" or "USB" light.

Canīt see high light clip (red color) in false color since the first beta B30! neither purple!
Please, any DP is accustomed to the RedOneīs false color and without it B30 itīs unusable. we have to revert our cameras to B21 today.
Same thing with IRE in the Spot Meter canīt get IRE 0 or more than 100!!!

Just to understand correctly, if I use RedRushes with build 30 RED color space footage, what is it making me in the end after I render a bunch of pro res 422 clips?

My guess is it will balance to the old color science, but I would love to find out more specifics as well.
Had an issue recently where a handful of dailies were run from footage shot on Build 30 on an earlier build of Rocket Cine-X and the footage had a yellow tinge to it. Upgraded to the latest build of Rocket Cine-X and that was corrected. It's very difficult to manage which versions have which color science built into them.

I believe the original EVF can struggle in cold temperatures.
I believe there are devices that can keep it warm that can be powered from the USB?
