I was away mountain bike racing for the day and I come back and find the thread was closed with no reason stated or even who closed it. It looked like it was sparking up a lot of good points on many sides and had people discussing viable business plans. I am just wondering why it was closed and am not trying to stir up problems.

By the way for people following that thread it continued a bit on the below link in a different thread.

I love the mods here, I really do, but I gotta agree that the process of locking threads with no explanation is really aggrivating. I respect your authority to do as you please in this playground, but when closing could you at least explain what's happening and why?

I respect your authority

Images of Cartman from Southpark come to mind.

I agree, i was away from the site for a couple days and I missed that thread. Sounds really interesting, now its gone with out any sound explanations. moderators here are great though, seem like people you'd love to meet in person. That brings a question to mind, is it too early to start taking about a Sundance party? :-)

Yo, Finner!

I used to live for making mt. bike films. Down? Jib? Plush? Any of these ring a bell?

Just wondering.

Will you be using your Red for shooting mt. bike footage?

there is always a good reason a thread is closed.

i didnt close the thread, but i will try and start posting why a thread is closed right before i close it. my mods will hopefully do the same.

Without an explanation I assumed that they didn't want talk that may reduce Red sales but hey they have some good points too like keeping the weeds down on this site.......and a kick-arse camera!

Cheers,

Hi Thor

I directed some mtn bike commercials with pro downhill riders for adidas eye wear, progressive suspension and Santa Cruz mtn bikes a few years ago but I pretty much just shoot what ever shlup they are selling and are willing to pay me to shoot. I like shooting outdoor mountain sports but I do a little of everything.

As far as racing and rideing I do that to try and keep my own sanity or what little of it is left.

Finner, I think you may need a new icon. ;-) but what would Hoff say?!

Seriously, I love your posts. They are smart, to the point and from a real pro.

Thanks. I bet Hoff would be proud of you too. ;-)

Thanks for the kind words Greg.

New Avatar time???? Well I may be up for that. Maybe I should put out the word that I am open to all photo-shoper's with mad skilz taking a shot at making a more disturbing Hoff avatar for me. Heck we could even have a vote to see which one members perfer. I would be up for a democratic avatar choice.

I'll start,
If you gotta keep Hoff's red knob theme...I'd go for an extreme closeup on the offending object (sorry Jim..) with a budgy bump

stop press: too late

I f you read post one and then post 17 you will see how much a thread can digress. I agree that that thread was a good read until it mysteriously got locked down.

Maybe it's because it got threadjacked.

Who knows.

Your Av and quote rock. Meanwhile this threadjacking leaves a mystery. Why was the stone thread closed??

This thread ended up being a nice test of the "closed due to threadjacking" theory. Could be when posters request a thread be closed it's more likely to happen.

Well I don't know what happened with the other one... but normally I'd lock this one down for threadjacking. I'll leave it open to appease the natives.

So it's more like a basketball referee. Sometimes they call it tight, sometimes they let 'em play.

Nice jeans.

Since this thread is open to threadjackers, has everyone read the RAW RULES thread? I vote to close ever other thread on this forum doun until everyone has read that one!

Hey Thor,

I thought that was you in another post. I'm friends with Cam McCaul, I live in Aptos.

I'll be shooting an entire MTB film with Red starting in Jan.

What have you been shooting these days?
