Tell me please how do you think if I buy RED ONE now How can I change or upgrate Red One for Epic next year? Is it possible? Or is it more reasonability to wait Stage 4 and buy Epic in 2011?

Easy to answer this"
1 - You can get full credit for your Red toward Epic later. So $0 lost, $0 depreciation. you will also be earlier in lien than someone with no Red.
2 - Until 2011 you have shoots yes? Do you not need a camera?

Hi Alexey
Unfortunately, the option to trade in a RED One for Epic does not apply to any RED One cameras bought after October 29, 2009. So the only way to get a trade in is to purchase a USED RED One bought on or before Oct 29, 2009, and execute a transfer. This will get you ahead in the queue to buy an Epic, with a trade-in value.

It was my understanding that you could trade in your RED ONE purchased after Oct 30th, you just wouldn't get the Epic-X package deal. Just RED one body for Epic Brain. I hope I'm right, as that's the boat I'm in.

I also believe this is incorrect. I remember talking to a RED person, (whom I shall allow to remain nameless in case my memory has failed me) and it is my understanding that one could buy a RED today and trade it in for full value against an Epic in the future. It will NOT, however, get you ahead in any purchase queue. This is only from memory so I apologize to RED if I misunderstood as I hate to spread misinformation. I'd also be interested to know if this is accurate, if only to reassure myself that my memory is still working!

Thank you, Yea I am thinking about RED ONE but of course I will buy Epic if it will be released this year. if not I think may be need to buy Red One now without waiting so long but I think i would be not easy to change RED ONE for Epic because I will need to sell RED ONE and buy Epic.

Not true, NO TRADE-IN credit after Oct 30, 2009- See Jim's posts

I bought my RED ONE based on this quote from Jim.
"Anyone who buys a new RED ONE or a used RED ONE and transfers ownership after yesterday... will be able to trade it in for $17,500 credit on an EPIC-S35 Brain ONLY.
The purpose of STAGEs ONE-THREE was to reward people who believed in the program and fought through the process with us. Buying today does not qualify for the same level of reward.

I am going to disagree with you here and hope someone who really knows for sure can arbitrate. I am not suggesting that buying a RED ONE now gets you any special treatment when it comes to purchasing an Epic; no advancement in the queue, no extra accessories. However, I do believe RED will give a full credit when you trade it in toward an Epic - just brain for brain. Of course, you could be waiting awhile as they will be fulfilling all Tattoo orders and everyone else who is already entitled to purchase an Epic - including all RED ONE owners with serial numbers before you. I recall the conversation because I was prodded, albeit very nicely, to consider purchasing a RED ONE under these conditions given it was a "no lose" proposition. My problem is I am "only" planning to buy a Scarlet. :violin:

well, since they didn't mention anything about the dates, i think they are allowing ALL REDONE owners to trade in their cameras with EPIC with PL mount, 2.8" LCD, REDMOTE.. and some other accessories, (i hope i am right and there will be no terms and conditions applied) ;)

I believe THAT is the option that required original ownership (registered serial number) prior the announcement date. The question asked in this thread was about buying a new RED ONE now and whether that would qualify for any trade-in.
I don't have any horse in this race as I am not a RED owner, but again I believe that buying a RED ONE now gets you the option for full price trade on Epic in the future - but brain only. It would probably be helpful if someone from RED would absolutely, positively clarify this and put this issue to bed.

Yes, but you know Red's motto: Everything is subject to change. Count on it.
