Hi guys,

I couldn't find a thread that have this discussion (CMIIW), so i thought i'll just go ahead and make new one for all RED Rocket and Scratch questions/topics.

So, questions:

1. Does RED Rocket work in PCIe 1.1 slot?
2. I need to confirm this, RED Rocket needs to be installed in PCIe slot that doesn't shared bus with graphic display card slot? Or otherwise it wouldn't be recognized by Windows 7?

The computer spec: Digital Storm with Intel Skulltrail D5400XS V8 platform mobo, NVidia FX5800 graphic card.

Cheers

Oleng, my understanding of 2.0 vs 1.1 is that the bandwidth of 2.0 is twice of 1.1. RR needs 8 lanes to do 4K. So if you put RR in a 1.1 slot at 8 lanes, it will be running like 2.0 at 4 lanes - not good enough. Others in the forum may chip in - Lim

Hi Mr Lim..
i think it sounds, that 1.1 x8 would be about the same speed as 2.0 x4, but if that's the case then if it's 1.1 at x16 then RR would work fine.
My main reason to ask is to find out from RED people what is exactly the spec this card requires in terms of the PCIe spec.

It's a gen 1, x8 card but it needs to be in a x16 physical (not necessarily electrictal) slot so there is enough power.

Is that mean RED Rocket and this motherboard (http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D5400XS/configs.htm) will work then? I was told that RED Rocket needs to be installed in slot that doesn't share bus with graphic card, how would i find that out?

Thanks Deanan
