Red One Camera Class

I have been getting quite a few emails and inquire about teaching the R1 and facilitating operation for various indie-film makers and corporate clients. Working as a cinematographer I would like to givehe Alberta community the skills and knowledge to be able to take this great camera into the field and understand it's operation and workflow. The Red Camera is a very powerful system and is making a huge impact on the indie and mainstream filmmaking.

This class will be a comprehensive day with camera prep, shooting and post workflow. We will cover set-up, different camera configurations, menu, system preferences and advanced applications; time-lapse and slow motion photography. We will also cover how to change the mount on the R1 from Nikon to PL depending on your applications; and also the pros and cons of shooting with each type of lens. As well as tips and tricks for EXT and INT lighting.

The afternoon we will go out into the field with each class member and obtain 1 shot per student. (which at the end of the day you can take home a proress file on DVD and put on your demo reel) For the last 3 hours of the day we will go back to the edit suite and ingest the footage for a one light grade with Red Cine - X, send the files into final cut and do a round trip grade with Apples color. THIS IS NOT A CLASS ON EITHER OF THESE SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS, IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE FCP STUDIO SUITE, YOU CAN BE A LITTLE BIT LAID BACK DURING THIS PERIOD.

This class is aimed, for Camera Operator, DP's, Directors and Producers, who would like to understand what the red is about.

The class will be limited to 5 members for direct and hands-on training with the Camera. MORE CLASS DAYS CAN FOLLOW DEPENDING ON LEVEL OF INTEREST.

The Course cost will be $225.00 for the day and a full deposit is required to reserve a seat (in check or cash, made payable to 4K Film Production Inc). The course will be from 9 am – 4:30 pm on May 9th location TBA

If this was shot in 35mm and charged at full price from Kodak and Technicolor it would cost $2.37 Million just to get to the editor. "Shooting red is a no-brainer, it's a quality driven image at a fraction of the price".

From these experiences Aaron has developed an intuitive sense of composition and an artistic sense for staging and lighting.

Over 2009-2010 has worked on 4 features during as the Cinematographer. He recently traveled with the Duke Ellington Orchestra to China to shoot a feature documentary of the famous orchestral jazz band.
