Jim & Co,
I'm shooting my first production short on September 23rd, and there are two shots in the movie that really, really need overcranking. Is there any way you could enable even 48fps @2k by that time? It would rock my world.

Heck, even 36fps @ 2k would be better than 24. I just really need some slo-mo. Although the full 100fps @ 2k would be just right :-)

just shoot your stuff on the HVX in 720p at 60fps mode and call it "the video cam shot" LOL

Lol, don't tempt me. I really need over-cranking.

just shoot that stuff last. you'll get your upgrade by then. the life of an indie feature film production gets streeeettttccccchhhhhhed to get things done inexpensively. you'll see.

It's a short, 4 pages long, only shooting on Sep 23rd. Otherwise I'd agree with you.

I'm in the same boat. I expressed my concern to Graeme, but he wasn't sure if it would be ready in time or not.

Shawn,
If you are SOL by then, shoot the shots at 24P and I will make sure you get them looking good in 4K looking overcrancked. I'd be glad to help you out with a couple of shots, we can do it all ftp.
PM me if you want more info.
Don't freak out to much about two shots. Worry about the whole movie.

Thanks David! I appreciate it, I'll remember that. But I have high hopes that Jim will read this thread and get at least some aspect of over-cranking running by then.

2K at some higher frame rate is at the top of our list to finish. No promises except we are working on it.

Hey Shawn, if Battistella isn't able to finish some overcranking work for you, I'll offer my services too. I'll be able to make it look whatever way you want. I also have an ftp available for file share.

Thanks Justin, I'll keep that in mind!
Thank you Jim, I hope the Red Co efforts are successful. Even if you guys aren't totally ready for prime time and want to email me a special build, I'd love that.

Now if I only had a kick ass colorist wanting to get his/her hands on a Red short I'd be set :-)

Reading this thread..
I have a feeling you are going to get cranked, ehem, overcransked...
Maybe you need a title sequence....

I don't follow...
And sadly the story doesn't allow for a beginning title sequence. It's just a 4 page script.

Shawn, sounds like you're going to have to see how re-timeing in Motion 3 works. If it can deliver on it's promise. Haven't done any re-timing with motion, but I have worked with it and I love it.
Good luck my friend

Shawn, considering your scene, could you try using Twixtor on your footage?

If you hook two batteries in series up to the camera, it'll shoot 48fps.
I swear.

The o-flow analysis is SLOOOOW. Or at least, that's been my brief experience on a MBP. Shake may be a better bet?

or shoot two reds and just hit the start button on the second one a 48th of a second later.

Despite it being slooooooow, does it work, and how does it look. The man has a 4 page short. I'm sure it's not allot of re-timeing in comparison.
"Oh, thanks for the response, say hey to Dave for me."
