Hello

Using this application for the first time and when i get to the part of setup in quicktime i choose ProRes HQ, i select 23.98 which is what the footage is but then the compressor option throws me for a bit of a loop.

Am i meant to switch gamma correction to none or leave it on automatic and also do i check enable chroma filtering even tho i am transcoding the footage to HQ not 4444?

I also see that it selects 1920x1080 which is what i want but am i meant to select a fit to width for my 3k footage in the Framing window like i would in RedRushes or does this export option understand what needs to happen - likewise if the footage was 2K would it know to fit to height?

thank you in advance for your time.

best
sean

Am transcoding Red to QT 4444 wich is a fabulous codec, only how do you export to quicktime without experiencing this mad loss of color info? Below is a shot from RedcineX and a still of the quicktime that it exports. It's a pretty huge difference and pretty much rules out quicktime as something I can take seriously in my workflow until I can figure out how to maintain a look during export.

Just Exported from REDCINE-X as Tiff. I then import those 16bit tiffs into After effects and render. QT Prores 4444. Works fine, but not feasible for long reels because the tiffs are 12.4mb per frame.

That looks a bit odd. It's not the exact same frame so that may have something to do with it. Otherwise, what debayer setting did you use? The wrong setting can kill detail like that.

Its your gamma setting in quicktime. The video is fine change your color profile on your mac to gamma 2.2 and you should be ok.
