Curious who sells them here?
Thanks.

Right now, no one. RED One you can get from http://red.com/store, Scarlet won't be for sale for a few more months.

Good, but how does warranty servicing and repairs go in Australia.
Thanks.

Back to RED in the US or their certified service centre in Asia

Yep, every Red owner here deals directly with Red in the U.S.
All sales, upgrades, repairs, cables, screws and CF cards all came directly from them.
It has actually been fantastic because you can get real answers, the best help and great service.
I had a Sony camera that was repaired locally and it took 5 weeks. Red had my camera upgraded, cleaned and beautiful in 13 days, door to door. They even paid the shipping in both directions!

Fully endorse Jim Hare's comments about service and turn around BUT remember that unless you are inside the warranty period or it is Red initiated free upgrade you will be paying the shipping costs. Our camera is in the air at the moment after repair and servicing - same great service and turn around but this time we are out of pocket for the shipping costs.

Good point John. It sounds like by the time our Epics leave warranty we will have a local option anyway.

Goddamn! if that's the case, I hope there's never an Australian reseller!

Tell me about it! Just goes to show that there are pros and cons to every scenario.
For example, I am SICK AND TIRED of knowing more than the local distributor about their own products, and just emailing any questions I may have to head office, messing it up and slowing it down in the meantime.
I am MUCH happier dealing directly with the company and have had nothing but joy dealing with Red.

I had an area rep for a lens manufacturer call the (European) factory today to check to see if we could get some gear within a tight schedule. The Asia-Pacific distributor for this lens brand has always taken days, if not weeks to respond to quote requests.
Sigh.

Thanks a lot Guys.
Australia is really the pits for buying imported goods. I know what you mean, they don't know what they sell, just hanging around for the money, and charge greatly inflated prices for everything. After I buy my camera at the normal price, I hope that a company like Provis could get the distributorship for the scarlets. I have had very limited dealings with this company years ago, so don't know what the low down is.
I was actually hoping there was no distributor here for the reasons you mentioned, as long as there is a local servicing/warranty repair center eventually, I can do without the 50-100% markups.
How are you guys finding your repairs in terms of cost?

Hey Wayne!
Hey Kaku, a long way since that little Sanyo HD1. Good to see you here. Let me know what happens. I have a little pocket 72060 camera I use for carrying around now, great images for so little. Waiting for another red one to come, a little red Kodak that is, with 24mb/s h264 fullHD, perfect for cross country bike mounting.
